The Hillary Email Scandal Remains the Poster Child -- What Is Director Wray Going to Do to Clean Up the FBI and When Is He Going to Do It?

TODAY'S NEWS IS ABOUT THE FALL FROM GRACE OF THE FBI. America has known form several years that there is something very wrong going on in the FBI. Because so much of what the FBI does today is classified, it's hard to get all the details. But, that doesn't prevent Americans from forming an opinion. • • • AMERICANS BELIEVE THE FBI IS POLITICALLY BIASED. On Tuesday, TheHill published the results of a poll conducted by the HarrisX polling company for Hill.TV’s public opinion show "What America’s Thinking." The poll found that 62% of Americans believe that the FBI was biased in its handling of the high-profile investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she served as Secretary of State. While 38% believe that bias favored Clinton, 24% thought the bias hurt the former Democratic presidential nominee. And, 59% of Americans believe the FBI also suffered from bias in the Trump probe, but more believe the President was hurt by that bias -- 38% Thirty-eight percent believe the FBI had been biased against Trump, while 21% said it had worked in the President’s favor. • TheHill noted that : "The Justice Department inspector general (IG) recently reported a number of anti-Trump comments in private texts and emails among a handful of FBI officials who worked on the cases, but concluded there was no evidence those political sentiments affected official actions on the Clinton case. The internal watchdog is still investigating whether any biases affected agents' action in the Trump-Russia case." FBI Director Christopher Wray ordered employees to undergo anti-bias training after the IG report was released in mid-June, but suggested any bias issues were limited to a handful of employees. Wray has said : “Nothing in this report impugns the integrity of our workforce as a whole or the FBI as an institution.” • Americans, based on this HarrisX poll, seem to disagree with FBI Director Wray. And, another pollster who appeared on "What America's Thinking," Ashlee Rich Stephenson, who does GOP polling, said during the program that released the HarrisX results : " “As we looked at 2016 and what happened with the FBI, as we’ve gotten more and more information, I believe intentions are certainly always good, but like in any Washington bureaucracy, you’re going to have folks do or say things that maybe they shouldn’t have.” The HarrisX poll seems to show that Americans don't agree with Stephenson either. Democrats have criticized former FBI director James Comey for violating agency protocol by repeatedly making public statements about the Clinton email investigation during the 2016 campaign. And, President Trump defenders, especially, see the FBI’s inquiry into the President’s conduct in 2016 and 2017 as unfair, citing the text messages from current and former FBI officials. • • • NUNES AGREES WITH THE TRUMP SUPPORTERS. At least about the FBI's Carter Page surveillance FISA applications that were released in a highly redacted form in late July. The FBI was the agency that submitted the application and obtained a FISA warrant to spy on Trump advisor Carter Page. That warrant was a major factor used as justification when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced the formation of Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation. In the four applications the FBI submitted, it is clear, even in the heavily redacted versions, that the main piece of evidence used to obtain the warrant was the Russia Dossier compiled by former British Spy Christopher Steele. The Dossier was funded by Trump’s rival in 2016, Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic National Committee. The released versions of the FISA applications show that the FBI knew the Dossier contained unverified information, with ridiculous claims about Donald Trump's conduct in Moscow. So, the FISA qpplications now clearly prove just how politically motivated the FBI was. • And, Representative Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intellignece Committee who has heroically gone after the facts surrounding the FISA applications, says the redacted version's facts may not even be the worst part of the FISA applications. Nunes says what people can’t see is even worse : “I would argue that what’s left in there is really bad, if not worse, but also what’s not in there is even worse than what people can see, what people can’t see.” As House Intelligence Committee chairman, Nunes knows better than almost anyone outside the FBI what’s in the FISA application, but because the redacted portion is classified, Nunes can't say exactly what is in it. • As Great American Daily notes : "It is difficult to even speculate about what could be in the redacted portion....There can’t be much worse out there than a Justice Department agency using unverified information found in a politically motivated Dossier to obtain a warrant on somebody advising a presidential campaign." • The very troubling aspect of the FISA applications and warrant to spy on Carter Page is that he is still not charged with any wrongdoing, BUT, spying on Page was the reason used by the FBI and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to justify the creation of Robert Mueller’s investigation. • • • THE FBI DELIBERATELY IGNORED HILLARY'S ‘GOLDEN EMAILS,’ CRUCIAL ABEDIN MESSAGES AND MORE. That's the conclusion is a June 22 Daily Caller long article by former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell. Powell says : "The Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Hillary Clinton have a HUGE Weiner problem that is even bigger than we first realized. According to the recently released inspector general report, on September 28 and 29, 2016, the New York office of the FBI immediately reported to the Washington headquarters its discovery of, first, 141,000 and then 350,000 emails on the laptop of Anthony Weiner -- also known as “Carlos Danger,” a now-convicted sex offender. Mr. Weiner is the husband of Hillary Clinton’s inseparable aide Huma Abedin. Now we know by October 4, the New York office had found 700,000 emails. The New York agents had seen and reported to FBI leadership they had seen email headers, all domain names, Mrs. Clinton’s initials on one sensitive but not classified document, and the missing BlackBerry backups. The New York agents described it as the 'entire file' of all Hillary Clinton emails from 2006 until 2016, including the BlackBerry messages that Comey himself had referred to as 'the golden emails.' " • The Daily Caller notes that the “mid-year team” ('Mid-year' is the name the FBI gave the investigation) of FBI agents investigating the email issues "had been told by Clinton’s staff and lawyers that there was a complete archive on both a thumb drive and a laptop, but remarkably, no one seemed to have them. At least some on the mid-year team were frustrated and believed Clinton’s attorneys were lying. Others, including Comey, claimed they were looking for those under every 'stone' but no one could find them." We know aboth the 30,000 emails Hillary produced and the missing 33,000 that she said were about yoga and Chelsea's wedding planning. But, now we find that there was a treasure trove of ALL Hillary's emails as Secretary of State, including, says Daily Caller "hundreds of thousands of emails, the 'entire file' -- everything Clinton -- including data from the BlackBerrys and other devices for which the FBI and DOJ decided not to run search warrants because they 'assumed' they had been destroyed." BUT, what did the FBI do???NOTHING !!! Daily Caller says : "There was a flurry of activity at Headquarters. Strzok-Page texts show that Strzok, McCabe and Priestap discussed the Weiner laptop among themselves shortly after the 'bomb' dropped in the video conference that day. In fact, Priestap and Strzok were waiting outside McCabe’s office to discuss it while McCabe was with Comey. There were also two calls between Comey and McCabe that evening....Remarkably, McCabe, Comey, Priestap, Strzok, and then Mary McCord at DOJ have little recollection of much of this at all. It just kind of 'fell off the radar.' They were 'busy.' it was probably 'duplicates,' and their focus was on the 'Russia' investigation to which they gave priority. And after all, they did not expect any information on the laptop to 'change the outcome of the case.' ” • The mind boggles at the thought that the FBI didn't believe the 700,000 emails would change the outcome of the Hillary email case -- so what if those emails represented 10 times the 30,000 Hillary had handed over. Why bother with them, even if, as Daily Caller points out : "The agents and Comey all knew they had no BlackBerry messages from Mrs. Clinton’s production. But from Weiner’s laptop, they knew from the headers and dates, they had all of those -- the first two months of her tenure as Secretary of State. This was the motherlode of Clinton culpability -- the answers to everything they did not want anyone to know." But, who cares, why bother. • Daily Caller gives us another FBI bias for Hillary : "As early as October 3, the Weiner case agent was 'agitated' over the sound of 'crickets' from headquarters and the 'inaccurate' statements of Director Comey regarding the number of emails they possessed. He felt compelled to push the issue in New York, all the way up to US Attorney Preet Bharara. The case agent himself recognized that the FBI had 10 times the number of Clinton emails that the Director had reported on the record, and they had the significant BlackBerry messages as well. He could not believe someone in New York had not called him to get the hard drive. Extremely concerned, the case agent went to the US attorneys for the Southern District of New York. An assistant United States attorney told the inspector general the agent believed 'somebody was not acting appropriately, somebody was trying to bury this.' The attorneys were concerned the agent might 'act out'...blow the whistle. United States Attorney Bharara was so sufficiently aware of the deafening silence from Washington that he instructed his chief counsel to document everything his office had done -- 'with a hundred percent accuracy.' 'Things seemed unusual' to him, and he wanted a record of their actions, including their recovery of more than 700,000 emails. Bharara instructed his deputy to call the Justice Department directly in case 'something had fallen through the cracks.' That call made it impossible for the FBI and DOJ to continue to keep this 'trove' buried. The same day, October 21, Agent Strzok wrote to Lisa Page : Toscas at DOJ was 'now aware NY has hrc-huma emails via weiner invest[igation].' Finally, five days later, on October 26, the New York case agent was able to talk directly to the mid-year agents. The case agent reported again : 'Based on the number of emails, we could have every email that Huma and Hillary ever sent each other.' • OBVIOUSLY, with all this information, the Department of Justice finally got in gear to get a warrant to include everything dealing during Mrs. Clinton’s tenure with the State Department and all devices, and especially the Comey-denominated 'golden emails' from the BlackBerrys and all the messages sent to Abedin to be given to Mrs. Clinton. NOT AT ALL. • Daily Caller tells us : "Shocker #1 : Despite everyone’s recognition of the importance of the 'explosive' 'bomb,' and the 'golden emails' on the Weiner laptop, the FBI never even sought to review the 'golden' emails. FBI General Counsel Baker pushed hard to expand the application to include those, but Strzok and DOJ prosecutors shot it down. Shocker #2 : They deliberately ignored the emails between Huma Abedin and others -- despite knowing she was a proxy for the Secretary and had lied to them in her interview. Federal investigators knew people would email Abedin, and she would print things out for Clinton. Abedin admitted it was easier for her to print things from home in Brooklyn. Logically then, it appears it was Abedin who deliberately stripped classified markings from emails to forward the information to Mrs. Clinton so she could then deny ever receiving anything marked classified. It’s called 'plausible deniability,' and it was a deliberate and illegal scheme for handling classified information. Shocker #3 : Over analysts’ objections, the FBI never reviewed the Weiner laptop to determine if it had been compromised by foreign agents despite finding that Huma Abedin had forwarded classified information to it. Those were flagrant violations of 18 U.S.C. §793." • That's a lot of "shockers" to digest. Suffice it to say that the FBI Washington was not going to let Hillary's entire 700,000 emails interfere with their pre-determined decision not to prosecute her. We can imagine what is in those emails -- Benghazi, the Russia uranium deal and other Clinton Foundation pay-to-play, obstruction of justice in destroying the private server after it had been subpoenaed by Congress, and possible espionage act violations. • The FBI claims to have reviewed all the relevant Clinton emails. That is obviously false. The inspector general’s report questions the FBI’s claim to have left no stone unturned. • • • HAS THE FBI GONE "STRAIGHT"? To answer the question whether the FBI has turned a corner and is "going straight" under Director Wray -- consider this. What Daily Caller calls a "panicked" Anthony Weiner gave all his electronic devices to private investigators in 2016, two days after he was exposed for engaging in lewd, online exchanges with a 15-year-old girl, court records reveal. A search-and-seizure warrant obtained by the feds and unsealed in May shows that the disgraced Weiner handed over an iPhone, iPad and laptop computer to Granite Intelligence on Sept. 23, 2016. The New York Post says : "The serial sexter -- whose online aliases included “Carlos Danger” -- wanted to rid himself of the incriminating evidence and 'facilitate transfer to the government' so he could avoid an FBI raid on the Union Square apartment he shared with his wife and young son, a source familiar with the matter said. Granite Intelligence, which is based in Midtown Manhattan and was co-founded by a former New York City prosecutor, is 'committed to resolving our clients’ problems with intelligence, integrity and discretion,' according to its Web site. Federal agents got permission to seize the electronics on Sept. 26, 2016, and a search of the laptop turned up e-mails between Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, and her boss, then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton." THAT WAS the discovery that led the FBI to re-open its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server as Secretary of State under former President Obama. Weiner was ordered to serve 21 months in the slammer, and is currently at the Federal Medical Center in Ayer, Massachusetts. • The New American wrote on November 3, 2016, that : "NYPD detectives and a [sic] NYPD Chief, the department’s highest rank under Commissioner, said openly that if the FBI and Justice Department fail to garner timely indictments against Clinton and co- conspirators, NYPD will go public with the damaging emails now in the hands of FBI Director James Comey and many FBI field offices. 'What’s in the emails is staggering and as a father, it turned my stomach,' the NYPD Chief said. 'There is not going to be any Houdini-like escape from what we found. We have copies of everything. We will ship them to Wikileaks or I will personally hold my own press conference if it comes to that.' ” That has not happened, according to the Daily Caller, because the Justice Department shut them down by allegedly threatening to indict NYPD officers on the two-year old death of Eric Gardner if the NYPD disclosed it. • But, on October 30, 2016, the New American had already written this : "The latest shocking news on this front is that despite a plea deal to destroy laptops (evidence) belonging to Clinton associates, those devices were not destroyed and are still in the possession of the FBI. As the Daily Caller reports : 'Washington D.C. attorney Joe DiGenova said on The David Webb Show on SiriusXM Friday night that despite the FBI agreeing to destroy the laptops of Clinton aide Cheryl Mills and ex-campaign staffer Heather Samuelson as part of immunity deals made during the initial investigation of Clinton’s email server, agents involved in the case refused to destroy the laptops. According to the agreement reached with the attorneys who handed over their laptops, the laptops were to be destroyed per the agreement after the testimony was given -- the interviews were given -- by the attorneys. The bureau and the department agreed to that,” DiGenova said. “However the laptops contrary to published reports were not destroyed and the reason is the agents who are tasked with destroying them refused to do so. And by the way the laptops are at the FBI for inspection by Congress or federal courts.” As to the report’s credibility, American Thinker’s Thomas Lifson noted that : “DiGenova, a former US Attorney and Washington, DC, superlawyer is no flake. He has plenty of contacts within the FBI and a reputation to protect. So I take his words on Sirius/XM’s David Webb show quite seriously.” • On June 20, 2018, Daily Caller contributor Sidney Powell wrote a prior article about the Hillary email mess, saying : "In a stunning assertion, Director Comey told the Inspector General he did not know Anthony Weiner was married to Huma Abedin. Perhaps they should have told him it was “Carlos Danger?” Either Comey was bald-faced lying, which is punishable under 18 U.S.C. §1001, or the level of ignorance and incompetence inherent in that representation alone warranted his termination. Moreover, if Comey’s claim were true, then Comey, McCabe and Strzok should have flown into action at the mere thought of a perverted stranger in a sexual offense investigation having 350,000 emails of the Secretary of State including highly classified information -- covering her entire tenure there. From the FBI’s and DOJ’s 'handling' of the 'Weiner problem,' there is more than enough evidence to demand immediate production of the Weiner laptop and all emails should be obtained from NSA or otherwise to be given to an independent special prosecutor for a full and thorough investigation. In addition, all of this raises scores upon scores of additional questions." Powell lists 10 questions that need to be answered : "1. What are the names of all the people the FBI has identified as having emailed Hillary Clinton on her obvious unsecured server at lintonemail.com? (We already know Obama emailed her on it under an alias. Which other high-ranking officials also emailed Clinton at her unsecured server? What about Robert Mueller? What about Eric Holder? // 2. Did the inspector general ask Lynch about threats to NYPD to prosecute officers if they didn’t back down on exposing the email cover-up? Why not? // 3. Did the FBI show Hillary the email by Cheryl Mills stating it was 'obvious' Clintonemail.com was not secure? // 4. Who are the three -- just three -- FBI agents who reviewed the Weiner laptop and conducted the miraculous de-duping and review in only a few days of 350,000 emails that covered her entire tenure as Secretary of State? // 5. Who in the Department of Justice reviewed the 350,000 Clinton emails on Weiner laptop? // 6. Who in Department of Justice talked to the New York office about the Weiner laptop? // 7. How many classified, top-secret and even more secret chains were found from Clinton’s own production on Weiner’s laptop? // 8. Who stripped the classified and confidential markings from the documents Mrs. Clinton received before sending them to her? // 9. Where is Weiner’s laptop right now? // 10. Who made that phone call from the Department of Justice to the New York Police Department? Exactly what was said?" • SO, we would expect that the FBI is hot on the Hillary email case now -- right?? WRONG again !! What is the FBI devoting time to these days?? • • • A SPECIAL FBI UNIT IS TRACKING DOWN LEAKS BETWEEN AGENCIES AND MEDIA. That's right. The Republic is on fire and the FBI has decided to tell us it is investigating federal agency leaks to the media. Epoch Times calls it "The Great Leak Hunt." Now, I don't mean to deny the importance of shutting down leakers in the Deep State, but I have to wonder why the FBI is releasing this information now instead of telling us about what it's doing about other pressing items -- Hillary's emails, for example. Why is the FBI NOW choosing to tell us about leakers -- America has known for two years that Deep State Obama and Hillary partisans entrenched in most federal agencies spent the entire transition period making it clear that they viewed Trump’s election win as illegitimate and that they fully intended to sandbag him at every opportunity. We remember the politically motivated strategic leak by a highly placed government official of a classified intelligence report that placed Trump's national security advisor, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, under FBI investigation. We remember earlier leaks by Obama/Hillary partisans inside the DOJ, the FBI, the State Department, and various intelligence agencies that were used to place Trump campaign personnel such as Carter Page under suspicion of being foreign agents of Russia, leading to the illegal FISA sutrveillance applications. We remember the January, 2017, BuzzFeed publishing of what became known as the Steele Dossier, an amalgamation of various second- and third-hand accounts supposedly from anonymous Russian informants that placed Page and former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort under suspicion and tried to tarnish Trump's own reputation irreversibly. • The Leakbusters is old news. Last August Attorney General Jeff Sessions called a press conference to announce the formation of the special FBI unit that would be tasked solely with hunting down leakers of classified information. Since this new unit is a counterintelligence unit, its activities are secret. But, occasionally AG Sessions has given us a peek, such as when he announced there were 27 ongoing investigations into unauthorized leaks by November 2017. Sessions also revealed that for the past year, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz has been engaged in a number of leak investigations, something former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe found out the hard way when he was terminated just before he’d have been eligible for his full pension and benefits. And Sessions has also revealed that Horowitz is not working alone on these leak investigations, but rather in tandem with a team of US attorneys led by John Huber. We remember that in June, James Wolfe, the former head of security for the Senate intelligence committee whose job involved handling classified documents, was indicted after FBI leakbusters tqrgeted him last December. • That's all terrific stuff, but where is the FBI news about a Hillary email investigation? • • • IS THE FBI COVERING FOR ONE OF THEIR OWN, SPECIAL COUNSEL MUELLER? The media is full of advice for Presudent Trump right now -- and most of it is about how to deal with Mueller. LifeZette reported on Monday that former Inspector General of the Intelligence Community Charles McCullough said Monday's Fox News “The Ingraham Angle” that President Trump should put “a hard deadline” on special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of allegations of collusion with Russia and “stick to it” : "The probe has gone on for well over a year, and there’s nothing wrong with the administration putting a hard deadline on this,” McCullough said, emphasizing that Trump and his officials “shouldn’t interfere with the investigation” because “investigators get to do what they do. But there’s certainly nothing wrong -- these things can’t go on forever. They are stressful for everyone involved. You’ve had numerous people having to expend great amounts of money for legal fees,” he added. “So they should put a hard deadline on this and stick to it.” • LifeZette says McCullough and veteran investigative journalist John Solomon, an editorial contributor to TheHill, were reacting on Monday to "a string of recent interviews from former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Now a member of Trump’s legal team, Giuliani dominated headlines Monday after a delivering a series of interviews on CNN and Fox News. Mueller entered his second year of the Russia collusion probe in May. After Giuliani joined Trump’s legal team in April, Giuliani called on Mueller to wrap up his probe for the good of the nation, and well before the November midterm elections." Giuliani told CNN : “We’re mindful of the fact that we’d like to get [the investigation] over with by September. I do believe that Mueller does, too. He said something in our meeting with him that he thought September was the date to get their report in. It makes sense...it’s enough before the November elections so you can’t say [Mueller] interfered with it one way or the other.” • There is also a heated public debate going on about whether President Trump will or should sit down with Mueller before the probe wraps up. Mueller reportedly hopes to ask Trump about the collusion allegations and accusations of obstruction of justice arising from his May 2017 firing of former FBI Director James Comey. But, Giuliani warned Monday on Fox News that there’s “no way” Trump will sit down for an interview with Mueller. Giuliania said : "I’m ‘no’ on a sit-down until we get ironed out exactly what [Mueller’s officials] want to do. Right now, I’m telling him, ‘No way.’ We’re not going to do it.” Solomon told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that Mueller “could have issued” a subpoena compelling Trump to testify “a long time ago” if he truly wished to do so. But, longstanding Department of Justice policy holds that a sitting President cannot be indicted or compelled to respond to a subpoena, so a Mueller subpoena of Trump would almost certainly be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court. Solomon said : “My gut tells me that they know what they need to know about the President. They know enough to write whatever reports they’re going to write and pursue whatever prosecutions they’re going to pursue. I don’t get a sense of a major constitutional crisis on the horizon. I could be wrong, but he would have issued the subpoena awhile ago if he had so chosen.” • Another issue is the declassification of the redacted portions of the FBI's FISA applications. Solomon saud that “there’s no tweet that the President could issue, there’s no defense that his lawyers can put out there, there’s no bar that any politician could put out there that will change more the course of the Russia investigation than if the President were to declassify the remaining parts of the FISA memo.” Solomon insisted : “That is where this story lies. And when that is released, I think the American public’s going to learn a lot about the flaws in the investigation, the circular intelligence reporting that occurred and whether there’s any evidence of collusion, which I don’t believe there is, based on my reporting. Also, I think we’re going to learn there [were] other tactics, other ways of gathering information about the President, that have not yet been revealed. And when they are revealed, they’ll be very troubling to the American public.” • And, Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson was uncharacteristically foolish on Wednesday when he challenged House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes to give him the unredacted version of the FISA application used by the Justice Department and FBI to obtain a surveillance warrant so they could spy on Carter Page. Carlson said : "You are the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, you're elected by voters to make these judgments. Bureaucrats elected by nobody are telling us, threatening us basically, that it hurts national security. You're the one with the power. Why don't you send it to me? We will put it on the air and let the public decide." Nunes had the right answer : "Can you imagine the field day they would have against me or if any other Republicans talked about what is now classified information?" Actually, Nunes has been calling on President Trump for months to declassify the FISA application. In July, DOJ released a heavily redacted version of the document. The FISA application has been a lighting rod for Republicans because of its undneiable essential use of the salacious, mostly unverified Steele Russia Dossier. Congressional GOP members have repeatedly clashed with DOJ and the FBI over documents regarding both the Russia and the Hillary Clinton email probes, going as far as to pass a resolution in June demanding that the materials be released. Some lawmakers, including Representative Mark Meadows, Freedom Caucus chairman, warned that failure to comply with their requests could result in officials being held in contempt or even the start of impeachment proceedings. The House Intelligence Committee in January opened an investigation into DOJ and the FBI regarding the probes. • CYA? Yes. It's a lot safer for the FBI to talk about tracking down leakers than to try to address the mountain of ugly facts pointing to the FBI's corrupt and biased handling of the Hillary email probe and the Mueller investigation of the Fake "collusion" charge leveled at Trump by using the political hack job called the Steele Dossier to illegally obtain a FISA warrant to spy on Carter Page and by extension, the Trump team. • The FBI has been pressured on occasion. But, the pressure has come not from the FBI's parent agency, the DOJ, but from Judicial Watch. And, last Friday, Judicial Watch scored again when it announced that : "The FBI has stated it sent a letter to fired FBI Director James Comey requesting him to preserve federal records and return any agency records in his possession not already returned to the FBI. The letter was sent in response to Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) concerns that Mr. Comey kept government records on personal email accounts. Judicial Watch, on behalf of itself and DCNF, today also filed a motion asking a federal court to issue an order for preservation. Judicial Watch argues that there is reason to be concerned that the responsive records could be lost or destroyed.” Judicial Watch points out that in June 2018, the DOJ’s Inspector General stated : “We identified numerous instances in which Comey used a personal email account (a Gmail account) to conduct FBI business.” The JW filing was made as part of an April 2018 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed after the DOJ failed to respond to Judicial Watch’s May 2017 request and DCNF’s February 2018 request (Judicial Watch and The Daily Caller News Foundation v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:18-cv-00967)). JW states that the lawsuit is seeking : "All records written or ordered written by Comey summarizing his conversations with any of the following individuals : Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Senator Chuck Schumer, Representative Nancy Pelosi, and Senator John McCain. All records that identify and describe all meetings between former FBI Director James Comey and President Barack Obama." Judicial Watch's Tom Fitton said : “It is incredible that it took Judicial Watch’s prodding of the FBI for it to ask Mr. Comey to return federal records -- over a year after he was fired. Mr. Comey continues to be protected by the FBI and DOJ. It is outrageous that the agencies oppose a simple preservation order to make sure no Comey records are lost or destroyed.” • • • DEAR READERS, while we can't possibly cover all the aspects of the FBI's questionable behavoir, looking at the eye-popping way it "investigated" Hillary Clinton for her use of an unsecured email server and her staff's coverinf for her, gives a good example of what must be happening often in the once-pristine FBI. Corrupt, politically biased, and untruthful -- that was the FBI as it went after Donald Trump to destroy his candidacy and then his presidency. Corrupt, biased and untruthful -- that was the FBI when it refused to properly investigate Hallary's emails so as to protect her from prosecution. • Has the FBI changed under Director Wray?? If it has, there is little public evidence of the change. The FBI is still stonewalling Congress, refusing to cooperate with any investigation until dragged kicking and screaming into compliance by a federal court. Where AG Sessions is in all this remains a mystery. • But, America must have a functioning, objective, and yes, patriotic in the sense that it takes the Constitution seriously, Federal Bureau of Investigation. If this requires the removal of the top levels within the FBI - if it requires the brutal search and elimination of any agent who has a record that shows even a hint of bias -- if it requires shutting down the FBI and assigning its tasks to other agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, the CIA and other federal law enforcement agencies until a completely new FBI can be constructed -- SO BE IT. Director Christopher Wray has surely got his sea legs by now. What is he going to do to clean up the FBI and when is he going to do it??
