Senator Grassley,We Agree -- Let the Judiciary Committee Vote to Release Judge Kavanaugh to the Full Senate for Confirmation

DEAR READERS, I believe the time for trying to report on the "facts" about the Kavanaugh confirmation circus has long passed, if there are any "facts." • One "fact" we know is that Judge Kavanaugh categorically denies the "facts" held in secret and sprung at the last minute by the ProgDem leadership and their Senate Judiciary Committee member Dianne Feinstein, who see the "facts" as exploitable in their larger agenda of destroying President Trump and the Republican Party. The second "fact" we know is that the few who were present at the "party" in question 36 years ago also deny categorically that any episode described by Feinstein or the woman raising the allegation of sexual misconduct occurred. • There are no "facts" on the side of the accuser. She does not remember where the '"party" took place. She does not remember the date. She now perhaps does not even remember if it was Judge Kavanaugh or someone else. She did not mention the incident to others by her own admission until 2012, according to The Washington Post, when her therapist recorded her claim that four individuals had committed the assault. AND, with all her "do not remembers" lined up, she is now refusing to tell her story under oath to the Senate Judsiciary Committee. • But, she did remember to send a letter to Senator Feinstein. She did remember to hire a prominent Washington set of lawyers who represent sexual misconduct accusers. She did remember to take a lie detector test, which only proves that she believes what she is saying, not that it actually happened. • She wants an FBI investigation before she will testify. • Senator Chuck Grassley, the wizened and wise old hand from Iowa, has had enough. Senator Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee, has told the accuser that she must make up her mind about testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee by Friday morning. Grassley wrote a letter to Ford’s attorneys on Wednesday, setting a 10 a.m. Friday deadline to respond to the invitation, “if she intends to testify on Monday.” Grassley wrote : "You have stated repeatedly that Dr. Ford wants to tell her story. I sincerely hope that Dr. Ford will accept my invitation to do so, either privately or publicly, on Monday.” Senator Grassley added : “In recognition of how difficult it can be to discuss allegations of this kind in public, I have also offered her the choice of testifying in either a public or closed session of the hearing." And, in another bait and switch, late Thursday afternoon, the accuser's lawyers said she might be willing to testify mext week under conditions to be negotiated and if her safety can be assured. • As for the accuser's -- really her attorneys' -- statement that she won’t testify until the FBI investigates the allegations, Senator Grassley has had enough of that, too. Grassley said it’s not the FBI’s “role to investigate a matter such as this....The Constitution assigns the Senate, and only the Senate, with the task of advising the President on his nominee and consenting to the nomination if the circumstances merit....The job of assessing and investigating a nominee’s qualifications in order to decide whether to consent to the nomination is ours, and ours alone,” Grassley said in his letter to Ford’s lawyers. A federal law enforcement official told Fox News that Ford's insistence on an FBI probe that : "It's totally inappropriate for someone to demand we use law enforcement resources to investigate a 35-year-old allegation when she won't go under oath and can't remember key details including when or where it happened." Another highly placed law enforcement source also said there won’t be an FBI investigation because there are no allegations a federal crime was committed. The FBI has also already conducted a background investigation. • And, Senator Grassley wasn't done. He unloaded a torrent of criticism on Senator Dianne Feinstein for her handling of the sexual assault accusations, telling the ranking Democrat on the committee, "I cannot overstate how disappointed I am." Saying Feinstein "chose to sit on the allegations until a politically opportune moment," Grassley demanded she immediately turn over an unredacted copy of the letter from Ford that Feinstein received July 30. Feinstein, a California Democrat, shared the letter with federal authorities. Grassley who called the document a "significant piece of evidence in Judge Kavanaugh's confirmation process," said that despite multiple requests, he still has access only to a redacted copy of the letter included in supplemental background materials provided by the FBI to a select group of Senators. • Meanwhile, President Trump said Wednesday he hopes Ford appears before the committee. “If she shows up, that would be wonderful,” Trump said. “If she doesn't show up, that would be unfortunate.” • A growing number of Republican Senators have called for moving ahead to a vote if Ford doesn’t show up for the planned hearing. And, Senator Grassley agrees. In his letter to Senator Feinstein Wednesday evening, Grassley said the accuser has had plenty of time to prepare testimony about Kavanaugh’s alleged assault : “I have scheduled the hearing continuation for this Monday because Dr. Ford, through her counsel, expressed the desire to tell her story under oath. It is my understanding that Dr. Ford has been represented by counsel in this matter for months and thus should be adequately prepared to testify. It would be a disservice to Dr. Ford, Judge Kavanaugh, this Committee, and the American people to delay this hearing any further.” • Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, bristled at the notion of a last-minute delay following months of background checks and testimonials. McConnell said : “Now an accusation of 36-year-old misconduct dating back to high school has been brought forward at the last minute in an irregular manner.” • And, as we have already discussed, the Daily Caller has again noted that the protesters at the Kavanaugh hearings are being funded by left-wing groups funded by George Soros. Soros, a dual citizen of Hungary and the United States, has used his vast wealth to fund a substantial number of left-wing groups, including the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), which has been one of the major groups funding the anti-Kavanaugh protests. In this case, that Daily Caller says that it appears the CPD, among other left-wing groups, is using money to fund “post-and-forfeit” payments, a small sum paid by those arrested to avoid jail time. The details were revealed on a conference call between organizers and activists that the Daily Caller News Foundation secretly phoned into after a tipster provided them the dial-in number. The Daily Caller says that the protests and disruptions are likely to pick up again, as Kavanaugh testifies next week. And with millions in Soros cash behind them, activists can continue to disrupt the process without fear of consequences. • What is most distasteful about this entire sorry episode is that the Democrat Party leadership thinks Americans are so stupid and/or gullible that we will believe anything they toss out at us as "facts." The ProgDems have tried it before -- it worked when they stood with Ted Kennedy after he allowed a young woman to drown instead of calling for help. But, it failed monumentally when they tried to paper over the ugly life of Hillary Clinton to get her elected President. Americans have learned that Democrats, especially the ProgDem Swamp Creatures among them, are liars who will do anything to get elected and stay elected, and they will smear and sully the reputation of anybody who gets in their way. • Senator Chuck Grassley will get the Republican votes he needs to release the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the full Senate. And, Mitch McConnell will see that Judge Kavanaugh is approved, because Mitch is a genius at Senate rules and manoeuvring, and because he is a conservative Republican who full well knows the perils ahead for the American Republic if the GOP allows the socialist ProgDem cabal to win this one.
