America's President Cannot Be Trusted to Speak the Truth

Obamacare "raided” $300 billion for Medicare Advantage and seniors will begin feeling the cuts next year, according to a December 2013 analysis by the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, which states that Obamacare took $700 billion from Medicare and $300 billion from Medicare Advantage for its own funding. The Subcommittee report reveals that cuts to Medicare Advantage beneficiaries will “begin to be fully realized in the next year." But the Obama administration made a promise to seniors. The promise was that "we’re going to use your Medicare dollars as a piggy bank to fund the Affordable Care Act, and in doing that we’ll improve Medicare and allow seniors to keep their doctors," - if they like them. Is this another Obamacare broken promise? "Yes," according to Subcommittee vice chairman Representative Michael Burgess. American Action Forum president Doug Holtz-Eakin said in a statement : “Those most hurt by the cuts are low-income seniors in rural areas without other options for supplemental Medicare coverage. Additional scheduled cuts in the future will broaden the damage to Medicare Advantage.” Twenty-eight percent of Medicare beneficiaries were enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans in 2013. Following up on this latest broken Obamacare promise of President Obama and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, GOP Florida Governor Rick Scott cited these proposed cuts in Medicare Advantage plans, saying the Obama administration is raiding Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Scott made his comments in Washington last weekend while attending the National Governors Association meeting, where Scott and other governors met with President Barack Obama. In a press release Monday, Scott said he had asked Obama "to fix Obamacare immediately." Scott added : "We learned last week that Medicare is being raided to pay for Obamacare, which is hurting our seniors, who could lose access to the doctors they liked and were told they could keep,....We need to give our seniors a voice and ask the President directly to not pay for Obamacare by raiding Medicare. He has stopped and delayed other broken parts of the healthcare law. He should do the same with this," the Scort news release said. Appearing Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Your World With Neil Cavuto," Governor Scott said 300,000 Floridians have lost health plans they were promised they could keep, and now senior citizens, a significant part of the state's population, are telling him they can't find a doctor who accepts Medicare. "It's totally different from what our citizens were promised," Scott said. Cavuto noted that several of Scott's fellow governors said during the weekend conference that Obamacare isn't going to be repealed, so it is up to them to find ways to make it work. "Well, it should happen," Scott replied. "This president's not going to do it, but somebody's got to fix this." ~~~~~ Dear readers, another Obama broken promise - a lie deliberately told to Americans in order to make them swallow the bitter pill that is Obamacare. And a lie told to the oldest, most vulnerable group of Americans, citizens who worked all their lives to keep America great. Can no one stop this Obama trainwreck that is destroying the fabric of America? Is there not one member of Congress, House or Senate, who is willing to stand up and be counted on the side of America, putting America above any personal agenda? Karl Marx was wrong -- religion is not the last refuge of scoundrels. Washington is. Where, oh where, are the Articles of Impeachment? Is there an unspoken understanding between the American electorate and the GOP members of Congress that Impeachment will follow if November's election returns a Senate with a GOP majority? America cannot wait much longer to deal with this most un-American presidency in its history. The one phrase that summarizes President Obama is - "if you like it, you can keep it" - consistently followed by lies and broken promises that have caused the majority of Americans to become unable to believe anything Barack Obama says. Consider for a moment the unprecedented horror of this state of affairs...America has a President who cannot be trusted to speak the truth.

  1. Ayn Rand wrote in 1961: “No man has the right to initiate the use of physical force against others. . . . To claim the right to initiate the use of physical force against another man–the right to compel his agreement by the threat of physical destruction–is to evict oneself automatically from the realm of rights, of morality and of the intellect.”

Obama and his fellow statists (statism – the theory or practice that all economic and political power should controlled by a central government leaving regional [state] government and individuals with no say in political matters) have undeniably evicted themselves from that realm

  2. To be patriotic is humbly the act of standing by your country. It doesn’t require each and every one of us to run out and enlist in a branch of the armed services. To be on the battlefield and recklessly endanger you live by jumping up and go dashing off yelling “Geronimo” in the direction of the oncoming fire. We all serve as best we can.

Being patriotic likewise doesn’t demand or even expect one to blindly support any single person or political group to a degree greater than he or they supports this country and/or its laws – particularly our Constitution. It is patriotic to support any or all elected bureaucrats to the level of their maintenance for our country.

It is UNPATRIOTIC NOT TO OPPOSE individuals elected to office that is incompetent, inadequate, or deceiving in defense of the nation’s laws and Constitution.

  3. More than the frustrating and unaccountably botched launch of the Affordable Care Act, the president has been undone by ten words uttered enough times so as to feel exponential: “If you like your health plan, you can keep it.”

The president's untruths about the Affordable Care Act will continue to haunt him:

When he said it in 2008, it was an ambition - it wasn't a lie.

When he said it in 2009, it was (possibly) still an ambition, since the real rules hadn't been written yet.

When he said it in 2010, and 2011, and 2012, it was a lie. His administration had developed estimates that most Americans in the individual market wouldn't be able to keep their policies. His administration wrote the rule on grandfathering as narrowly as possible in order to force as many people as possible into the exchanges.

I find it incredible that Mr. Obama wasn't aware of this situation. If he generally was unaware that his most knowledgeable advisers had determined his statement wasn't true, and that his trusted subordinates had worked hard to ensure it would be as far from true as possible, this reflects very badly on his ability to run the White House: he doesn't let the truth get to him, and he doesn't get his subordinates to follow his instruction. But, even if you think that he was honestly unaware that most people affected by Obamacare couldn't keep the policies they wanted, it was still a lie to confidently and authoritatively asserts something that he knew would be important to his viewers without bothering to find out if it was true.

His statement would be no more honest than it would be for me to say "I have won tonight's Powerball jackpot, and I will give you $10 million if you support me" when I haven't actually checked the Powerball numbers, and I'm not even sure I bought a ticket.

    1. Health Plans are not easy to find, let alone afford.

  4. He's a liar and a thief stealing from Seniors to bail his butt out. Why oh why doesn't one brave Representative draw up impeachment articles in the House? Surely there's one. If I was one I'd have them drawn up so fast it would make your head spin and the outcome be damned.

  5. You should never be afraid or coerced by anyone into not being willing to truthfully speak out about the actions or lack of actions in the matters of government misconduct. Your (and all others) voice in unison for honesty, truth, and compassion against the injustice, lying, and outright greed of politicians gone off the beaten path is a duty. This should be a corner stone of keeping our governmental system “of the people, by the people, and for the people” – without it we will vanish from this earth.

To blindly stand by and be silent about unlawful and unscrupulous actions of a president & his administration (one and all) as we are witnessing with Obama is akin to being part of his lies and fabrications. To continue to do so based on the simple fact that Obama is an African-American is intellectual decay and harms everyone. This is exactly what Obama is striving for – a “guilt complex based on race” that will keep us silent to his offences. Don’t play into this elaborate scheme of his. If we do the outcome is they win and we lose our freedoms.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
    ― Theodore Roosevelt

  6. The laws, principals, and the truth that we live by daily are not for the moral stretches when there are no inducements to do otherwise. They are for the moral stretches that we are undergoing today – right now. These times when our sense of what is right is being interrogated by the actions of those that have no principals or honor and act at what’s in their best interest … not what is in our interests.

If these laws and principals can be broken at a whim for someone else’s expediency, what is their worth to anyone at any time? They are simply words on paper to be followed when hard straightforwardness is not in play.
