Dear Anonymous,
That is what I've been saying. We must go after the magical 20% who are independent or old-fashioned moderately conservative Republicans. That's where November 2012 will be won or lost.
And for the life of me, I do not understand all the navel contemplation and soul-searching going on in the GOP right now, although I must say it seems to be declining a little. Romney won the right to be the GOP presidential candidate, and we must support him -- or take what we deserve with 4 more years of Obama and his crew.
As for Chicago, I need only say November 1960 to put the town into political perspective. Without Mayor Daley and his quaint way of registering and counting votes, Nixon would have been elected. Okay, we lost. But, for goodness sake, let's not let it happen again, either in Chicago or anywhere else where registration lists and vote counts are rather flexible.
And, let's have no illusions. The American fiscal picture is ugly. The budget deficit is almost beyond salvation now, but with another 4 years of the Democrat tax-and-spend, it will be hopelessly out of control.
Ask the Greek people. They now know bigtime why a government and country cannot spend forever to "buy" citizen loyalty. The very people who enjoyed the payouts are the ones now being ruined.
America needs to focus on this instead of talking about the details of fiscal cliff timing scenarios. There's a job to do and it needs to be done now. If now is November, okay, but only if Romney is elected with a Congress that is also GOP-led. If November is Obama territory, then forget it. America is cooked.
Your 100% correct. The conservatives have no place else to go except Romney, the Tea Party crowd likewise. As the Liberals, and Progressives the only lever they can pull is Obama.
ReplyDeleteIt's that independent, moderately conservative republican (conservative on fiscal matters, stay out of their bedrooms right now who cares) and the fiscal conservative Libertarians.
Your point on about 1960. We don't have the latitude to lose this election. If we do good bye America as we know it or love it.
The economy is in such shambles that if it were explained to main street inhabitants they would think we were lying to them. One more trillion dollar stimulus, I think that's the straw.
This administration has revised DOWNWARDLY 62 of the last 66 weekly unemployment reports. It's never reported not even by Fox. Our real underemployment/under employment if approx. 17.2%.
Between you and me - I'm as scared as I have ever been about anything. Even life and death situations I felt I had a handle on. Not this. Obama is a real "Snake Oil Salesman"
Thank you again. talk with you Monday or tomorrow
What will we ever do if we wake up Wednesday, November 7, 2012 and Obama is still the president. I don't think we'll know for sure, but you get my point.
ReplyDeleteThe deficit spending, the Supreme court appointments that he'll have, if he wins does he get the house back, a veto proof senate. More Chicago style politics in Justice, and State departments.
I've always been prepared in my professional life with a contingency plan. What's the back up here. Move to Europe, Montana, Columbia, Israel (they'd be doomed if he wins). It truly scares me to think what would happen with 4 more years of Obama. It sickens me.
Besides the presidential election there is control of the house and senate to worry about. It is imperative for the conservatives to increase the majority in the house and take simple control of the senate.
ReplyDeleteMay the old John and Mitch could be replaced with two living, breathing people who want to be a bit proactive in their leadership. Two who would support Mitt Romney in his quest to "right this sinking ship".
When Romney wins it is going to take 4 years of doing whats right not what is popular or expedient. Forget about the polls , etc. By doing whats right, reversing job loss, enacting sensible budgets, strong defense, major tax reform, foreign policy/relationships that work, health care programs that work, re-election will then take care of itself. Follow Reagan's path.
Here is something that is downright disgusting. More Americans started SS Disability in the month of June than got a job. Raw numbers , not percentages. The percentage of increase was 15% for Disability, 2% for jobs. There isn't a day goes by that in my e-mail inbox I don't get at least a couple msg. concerning and telling me how to get SS Disability.
ReplyDeleteIs SS Disability becoming the second level of unemployment benefits for those who have exhausted the 99 weeks of unemployment and now need another from of income?
easing of the regulations to receive Disability is a well thought out plan on the Obama WH to lock in a few more voters who adhere to the philosophy of - "What can you do for me today"
I apologize for the vast distance that this subject matter is from the Magical 20% topic. But maybe not really all that far is it? We are up against a politician and his henchmen that will stop at NOTHING to win in November.
Somebody needs to whisper into the Romney campaign hierarchy and GOP national chair that the "BRAVEHEART TACTIC" of (the battle scene where he shouts HOLD! Hold!)winning the war is going to come up a bit short.
A political technical number counter 9Karl Rove) could look at the polls and numbers today, sate by state, and could develop a plan for the so called battle ground state. Those state designated today represent 25% of the electoral college total. The sure states that Romney will win are identifiable right now. TIME and MONEY into the toss up states.
Maybe he should announce his VP choice this week and break with tradition. Doing so would put two people out there with the same msg. or covering two separate issues.
Tks all.225
Be safe today.
Right on about announcing VP choice by Romney...Casey pops and I have been saying this for a while.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense. And Condy makes sense. I know she doesn't want it! Really? Why then submit to the vetting process.
ReplyDeleteThis is a move old Obama doesn't have in his bag. he's stuck with Joe Boy.
maybe about mid September start announcing his cabinet choices - "HERE AMERICAN I'VE TOLD YOU WHERE I STAND ON THE ISSUES AND THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO WILL HELP US GET AMERICA BACK ON TRACK".
I know his fund raising is on track. But if people are willing to reach into their pocket (ESPECIALLY IN TODAY'S ECONOMY)they are more likely to help before Nov. 6th an more likely to be sure to vote. Right? Right.
So how about a national fundraising campaign to get 40 million Americans to send in 25 cents in the months of August, September, October, and 10 cents in Nov. Not big dollars, but BIG SUPPORT. It's a mind game225. Knock Obama and his staff of merry en off balance.
