Happy 4th of July, and Hillary, Why'd you Do It

It's Independence Day for Americans and I want to wish everyone a very Happy Fourth of July. Keep the flag flying and the heart of our beautiful country beating at its best.
Now, for Hillary Clinton.
She apologized today to Pakistan for the shooting incident last November that had brought military convoys and supply transportation between Pakistan and Afghanistan to a stop while the US and Pakistan quibbled over who did what to whom and when and why. And, oh yes, there was the little matter of raising "turnpike" fees by about 500% for each US vehicle using the Pakistan-to-Afghanistan route.
Well, Pakistan said it needed, even demanded, an apology before transport could resume and today it got its apology.
Okay. I don't see the big problem here -- except for the timing.
Every time America does something in a country that is supposed to be a "friend", we end up being held "hostage" for payments, apologies, new deals, and all sorts of other items on the friendly country's list of "what can we get from America now that she's got herself into this unpleasant situation."
My problem is timing? Absolutely. Ninety-nine percent of the time, America ends up by apologizing, promisimg never to do "it" again, paying for grossly over-estimated costs, hurt pride, angry citizen demands, and the like.
Why not just make it policy to apologize instantly. "We are sorry. It was a mistake. Please accept our abject apologies."
Done deal. No blackmail, no public divorce proceedings, no accusations. Just an apology. And if the friendly country doesn't like it or thinks it's not enough, at least America and Americans will have the comfort of knowing that the real issue wasn't the apology but the desire to gouge something out of the US on the pretext of an all too often imagined or deliberately created injury. It could go a long way to defining who America's friends really are.
Happy Independence Day, dear readers. I'm going to celebrate a little myself. I'll be back with you on either Thursday or Friday.

  1. Well, Casey Pops, I wish we could put you on our Supreme Court.
I agree with you 100% on the apology thing. Why do we always seem to be the bad guys when we are always out there trying to make life better for someone else. It wouldn't be right but it almost makes me want to be like the turtle that pulls his legs and head in and can't see anything.
Maybe we should pull everyone home and say we'll only defend our own shores the rest of you do whatever you like to survive. Why do we have to apologize for doing good? It just doesn't compute for me. We've gone overboard on this politically correct thing.
Have a good time celebrating there.

  2. To withdrawal would be the easy way out. I am as tired as the next person is of this caretaker role we've been in for the last some 200 years. But it is our role , the so call cards we've been dealt and we don't have "21" so on we must play on. We took on this job and NOW is not the time to bore of the challenge.

"de OPPESSO LIBER" - To free the oppressed

Apologizing at least in my experience is simply what the State Department does best.Their motto must be "We Can Always Apologize If We Need To"

My concern over this is how will Hillary try and pull off the release of the Blind Sheik to Egypt. I hope we don't let the facts get in our way of bowing to the Egypt initial demand. I was truly hoping that i was wrong about Mori, The Brotherhood, and the failure of their so called democratic elections. It appears (the duck syndrome - If it look like, etc.) that Egypt has stepped back 400 years in human rights with the up coming instillation of Sharia law. "The King Is Dead, Long Live Enslavement"

The situation in the middle east is not PC. It's about domination of the region (right now), defeating the infidels, and installing Sharia law. It's the dream of the progressives in the free world of one world Government. They only difference in the Middle East it's a barbaric form of of government with no human rights. It's the purest from of a Theocracy. And we need to look beyond the shores of the Middle East and see how very close conversion to this Islamic dream is a real possibility.Defeating these Islamic Fundamentalists is no easy, short lived conflict. Not at all. Our grandchildren will be the ones to put the final settlement on it if the world is lucky.

No place is it written that that man's freedom would be easy to hold or that in the end we would win the battle.
The fight for freedom goes back to the trials of a tribe of Neanderthals frighting to remain free of dominance by another tribe/horde. William Wallace fight against an unjust Enlish advancement, the American colonists, The great Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korean War and, Obamacare and many things in between.

As Janis said "Freedom just another word for nothing left to loose".

I've done it again haven't I Casey Pops - used 100 word when one would have worked". I promise I'm not a lawyer. But if it counts I have 1 in my family, and 1 on the way.

All have a grand, glorious day. Enjoy but be safe. If you don't normally pray, maybe try t tonight - just a word of thanks for the beautiful, free life we have.

  3. CASEY POPS FOR THE SUPREME COURT.

Sounds like a winner to me. President Rooney's first court appointee. Seriously Why Not. If not the high court how about an Circuit or Appellate seat?

    Later
