THE FACTS ARE ON THE TABLE. It's now time for the Democrat Party and Americans to choose. • • • PRESIDENT TRUMP LAID OUT THE FACTS. In his address to the nation Thursday evening, President Trump on clearly argued that the nation is facing a “growing humanitarian and security crisis” at the southern border and said the debate over his proposed wall is a matter of choosing between right and wrong : “This barrier is absolutely critical to border security. This is just common sense. This is a choice between right and wrong, between justice and injustice." • The President said he offered to build a steel wall instead of a concrete barrier, in an effort to eliminate any arguments the Democrats may use about what the wall is called as they pressure President Trump to capitulate and re-open government without getting funding for the wall. • The President asked the absolutely right question : “How much more American blood must we shed before Congress does its job?” While he did not, as many in the media had anticipated, declare a national emergency that would allow him to circumvent Congress to build the wall, President Trump laid the problem out with precision, stating : "Last month, 20,000 migrant children were illegally brought into the United States – a dramatic increase. These children are used as human pawns by vicious coyotes and ruthless gangs. One in three women are sexually assaulted on the dangerous trek up through Mexico. Women and children are the biggest victims by far of our broken system...This is a humanitarian crisis -- a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul.” • Western Journal Conservative Tribune called the President's speech a "bold ultimatum....an appeal directly to the American people for increased border security funding, making a clear case to the American people that his Democrat opponents bear blame for the current impasse." • President Trump stated : "Senator Chuck Schumer...has repeatedly supported a physical barrier in the past along with many other Democrats. They changed their mind only after I was elected president. Democrats in Congress have refused to acknowledge the crisis, and they have refused to provide our brave border agents with the tools they desperately need to protect our families and our nation. The Federal Government remains shut down for one reason and one reason only: because Democrats will not fund border security....The only solution is for Democrats to pass a spending bill that defends our borders and reopens the government....This situation could be solved in a 45 minute meeting.” • President Trump explained his administration's full border security request to Congress -- $5.7 billion to construct 234 miles of new physical barrier along the border; an additional nearly $6 billion to hire more border patrol agents and immigration judges and for the housing, medical and transportation costs associated with those detained at the border; and $675 million for equipment to detect and deter narcotics, weapons and other contraband trying to be brought through the ports of entry. He laid out the criminality facts : “Our southern border is a pipeline for vast quantities of illegal drugs including meth, heroine, cocaine, and fentanyl. Every week 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone, 90% of which floods across from our southern border. More Americans will die from drugs this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War. In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records, including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent killings. Over the years, thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered our country. And thousands more lives will be lost if we don’t act right now." • • • THIS IS WHAT PELOSI AND SCHUMER CALL "IMMORAL" and "CRUEL." Are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer opposed to further funding for an "immoral" border wall or barrier because in their twisted minds they see some sort of "morality" in killing more Americans through illegal drug use every year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War?? Or perhaps their twisted minds see "morality" in watching the funerals of Americans needlessly killed by illegal immigrant criminals who should never have gotten into the United States?? Or, maybe their twisted minds see "immorality" in giving Border Patrol officers a wall to help them prevent a large number of the 521,000 apprehensions at the southwest border in Fiscal Year 2018 -- those numbers are only rising because of the twisted "morality" of Pelosi and Schumer, who refuse to admit that the number of apprehensions surged in the first two months of FY 2019 to approximately 60,700 in October and 62,500 in November, representing an increase of over 10,000 persons apprehended per month compared to FY 2018. WHY? Becuase Pelosi and Schumer say it is "immoral" to build a wall. • In a joint statement released ahead of President Trump’s address, Pelosi and Schumer predicted his remarks would be filled with “malice and misinformation.” The only "malice" we saw on Tuesday night Chuck Schumer's GROTESQUElY CYNICAL LIE : "We can re-open the government and continue to work through disagreements about policy. We can secure our border without an expensive, ineffective wall. And, we can welcome legal immigrants and refugees without compromising safety and security. The symbol of America should be the Statue of Liberty, not a thirty-foot wall." • Does Chuck Schumer think America and its President are some kind of Charlie Brown who always believes that Lucy will not move the football?? Chuck ought to know his opposition better. • In her remarks, Pelosi said the President's statements during the partial shutdown have been "full of misinformation and even malice," and accused the administration of practicing "cruel and counterproductive policies" at the southern border. Pelosi obviously does not recognize real cruelty when she sees it in the faces of children being tugged along just so their cynical parents, fake or real, can use them to try for US entry after pushing the little one across the border. • On Hannity, "Life, Liberty & Levin" host Mark Levin said Democrat leaders Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are "pathological liars" and have done nothing constructive for immigration or border control policy in nearly "half a century." Levin said that the two leaders have been in Congress for decades with little accomplishment to show for themselves in this regard, noting that the two Democrats and their caucus successfully "fooled" every Republican President from Ronald Reagan through George W. Bush. Levin stated : "Schumer and Pelosi are part of the scam artists. They get amnesty, legalization, citizenship -- and never secure the border....They're not going to fool Donald Trump." Levin always gets it. He told Hannity that in the past, Reagan and the Bushes assented to amnesty-type legislation with the promise of border control in the future. • It NEVER happened. • Chris Wallace said he doesn’t believe that Democrats will be persuaded to fund the border wall, while he admitted there is indeed a border crisis : “There’s no question that there is a crisis at the border. There has been a huge spike in the number of family units that are being apprehended at the border. It went from 7,000 in 2017 to 25,000 in November 2018....The speech will certainly galvanize the President’s base. I’m not sure it’s going to convince a lot of undecided people. And it certainly isn’t going to persuade the Democrats.” Don’t be fooled into thinking Democrats care about the illegal immigrants from a humanitarian standpoint. It’s all about the votes. • • • IT'S THE VOTES, STUPID! In opposing President Trump's call for a border wall, the Democrats don’t care about human trafficking or rape or abandoned children or drugs or drug violence or jobs taken from blacks or jobs taken from Hispanics or American citizens at risk. Those are the lies they feed to America, hoping Americans are gullible enough to believe the lies. What the Democrat Party and its leaders care about is increasing the number of voters for the Democrat Party. Democrats refuse to fund a wall not -- as they like to say -- because it doesn't work BUT PRECISELY because a wall does work !! And that would put a crimp on their projected future demographically-driven voting bloc. • • • WHAT ABOUT THE "NATIONAL EMERGENCY" IDEA? Since it was first raised in a press conference by a reporter, my suspicion is that it was a ProgDem plant from the start. The idea of having the President declare a state of emergency to obtain wall funding, which he said on Friday he has the power to do, is filled with landmines for President Trump. Last Friday he answered the reporter by saying : “We can call a national emergency because of the security of our country...I haven’t done it, I may do it. We can call a national emergency and build it very quickly. But if we can do it through a negotiated process, we are giving that a shot.” • USA Today spelled out the landmines when it reported that Presidents have broad powers to make such declarations : “Congress can terminate a declared emergency, but it requires a joint resolution -- a high hurdle. House Democrats, now in power, would have to convince Senate Republicans...to join them in blocking Trump’s move. Then they would have get a signature from the President, the same person who declared the emergency in the first place, or override his veto.” ALL that sounds like a GO signal. BUT, wait for the other shoe to fall. USA Today then added: "The other means those opposed to the border barrier would likely take is to seek an injunction stopping construction, probably in the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals, which has shown the greatest willingness to oppose the president’s policies, particularly on issues related to immigration. The Trump administration would then almost certainly have to engage in a lengthy court battle all the way to the US Supreme Court, where it may or may not get a favorable ruling." • President Trump and his team are right not to leap to a "national emergency" scenario. That would only tie up yet another Trump agenda item in federal courts, where a hotshot Obama-appointee Progressive federal district judge would issue a national injunction and tie the President's hands even further as he tries to resolve the very real border security crisis. While such a declaration might break an absolute and unending deadlock that is keeping the government shut, it should be the very last resort for the President. • • • PRESIDENT TRUMP IS NOT LYING OR EXAGGERATING. American Thinker wrote on Tuesday that : "Even Axios links opioid epidemic to an unwalled border." Monica Showalter said that : "Yes, we can expose the hypocrisy of House speaker Nancy Pelosi calling walls 'immoral' while living behind them herself. We can also point to the reality that terrorists have been getting through our unguarded US border with big plans to harm us. The left yells that 'only' six (the ones they caught) is not good enough. But all it takes is one....But now we have something very important from Axios, showing that the opioid epidemic is largely the work of legal and illegal drugs rolling in illicitly from abroad. Part of that, a part big enough to see on Axios's chart, is clearly the result of the US unguarded borders. [NOTE : One fact that neither Axios nor Showalter point out is that the percentage of opoids -- especially heroin and fentynal -- are increasingly entering across borders and not at ports of entry. See it on the chart in the Axios article.] Axios tries to downplay it in relative terms, given that many opioids slipping into the US come by other means, but it doesn't shrink from the facts. And with Axios calling it "the border's deadliest threat" -- they inadvertently make a case for a wall. Seventy thousand Americans died of opiate overdoses last year, a figure hailed as a leveling off, but 70,000 is a gargantuan number, signaling a real crisis. Based on an estimate from the Axios chart of smuggled opiates coming in, about 10% of those opiates come through to the US "between ports of entry" as the delicate term goes. Ten percent of 70,000 is 7,000 deaths that can be attributed to an open border and illegal drugs getting in. Those 7,000 deaths amount to more than two 9/11s. Terrorists generally don't have that high a death toll, but opiates do. That makes yet another argument for securing the US border from drug-smugglers. The case for a wall is growing. WHAT ABOUT OBAMA'S BORDER PATROL CHIEF?. BizPac Review published a report of an interview with Fox News' Tucker Carlson that former Obama Border Patrol chief, Mark Morgan, gave on Monday. Morgan, who was the chief of the US Border Patrol under former President Obama and was asked to step down from his position days after President Donald Trump took office in January 2017, broke his silence and finally spoke out in support of President Trump’s efforts to get funding for a border wall. Morgan told Tucker Carlson unequivocally that walls “absolutely work....If you look in the past, you don’t have to go too far back in history, that bipartisan legislation Secure Fence Act in 2006 and 2012, bipartisan legislation passed where they built the wall or fence or physical barrier, whatever you want to call it, it’s a wall. It works." Tucker Carlson answered : “You worked for Obama, you did not work for Trump, so I don’t know what that says. But just to be totally clear we’re having you on to talk about this in your capacity as someone who knows a lot about the subject. Is there a real argument against having a wall that you are aware of?” Morgan responded that he is completely in favor of the President’s stand on a border wall : “The president is right, the president of [National] Border Control Council is right. The other day when they had the national press conference and they got up and they said, ‘The wall works,’ they are right, and it’s not based on a personal, political ideology. That’s based on historical data and facts that can be proven,” Morgan said, adding that opposition is probably “a political point” that President Trump's critics are trying to make. • Morgan, who served in the FBI for two decades, added that he “cannot think of a legitimate argument why anyone would not support the wall as part of the multi-layered border security issue.” He noted that the “gatekeeper strategy” has not changed over the years but that critics are “too wrapped up” in attacking anything that Trump does rather than focus on substance. “I don’t understand what’s changed....I believe in what the President is doing. When he says that this is a national security problem, he is absolutely correct.” • In a separate interview with the Law & Crime Network on Tuesday, Morgan again stated his views and explained that he was breaking his silence for “very specific reasons.” He noted that he chose to remain silent after parting with the White House because “to do [talk] would only serve certain political ideologies to use my talking points then to further serve their own agenda.” But after some time, he added, he saw the “amount of rhetoric” and the “outright lies” about border security and decided he had to speak up. “I’m here today breaking my silence to tell the American people that the President is correct in what he’s doing,” he said. “The wall works.” • • • DEAR READERS, if you don't believe President Trump or Mark Levin or Mark Morgan, Obama's Border Patrol chief, what about this? American Thinker's Thomas Lifson wrote on Tuesday that : "Mexico just made it a lot harder for Democrats to denounce border security as a racist plot against Hispanics (as if "Hispanic" were a race). Exactly as President Trump has explained, if you don't have a border, you don't have a nation. Patrick Goodenough of CNS reports : 'Mexico's interior minister outlined plans to strengthen her own country's porous southern border, where hundreds of illegal crossing points have been identified. Speaking at a gathering of Mexican diplomats at the foreign ministry, Olga Sánchez Cordero said at least 10,000 migrants had entered Mexico from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala since last October, and that another US-bound 'caravan' from the south was expected to arrive in mid-January. Sánchez Cordero said the government was determined to ensure that 'legal and orderly' entry takes place. As part of the new government's migration policy, she said, anyone wanting to enter Mexico would have to provide information including reason for entry, biometric data, and an identity document. 'Those who refuse to provide identity or biometric data will not be able to enter Mexican territory.' " Lifson concludes : "President Trump has the means and the will to grind this into the faces of Schumer, Pelosi, and all the other hypocrites. Like the US, Mexico has a southern border with much poorer countries on the other side. That creates incentives for illegal immigration, which imposes costs on the host." • Another American Thinker article by Jack Hellner compared the immorality in the Democrat Planned Parenthood position and compared it to their border security position : "Democrats were willing to shut down the entire government if Republicans blocked money for their special interest group, Planned Parenthood. It is not even a government agency, yet they were willing to send government employees home if they didn't get their way. Should taxpayers be forced to hand over so much of the money that is confiscated from us to a group founded by a known racist who wanted contraception and sterilization to build a cleaner race? This organization has crushed and crunched babies and continues to abort minorities at a much higher percentage than their percentage of the population, so where are the cries that Planned Parenthood is trying to create a whiter America? Very few countries in the world allow abortion after twenty weeks, yet Democrats must adhere to this policy to be invited into the tent. A party that supports abortion on demand at all stages of a pregnancy, no matter how viable the child is, should not be lecturing anyone about morality. Defending our borders and enforcing the laws Congress passed is obviously not immoral." • The bottom line is so clear -- Chuck Schumer has the power to end the shutdown. All he has to do is fund the wall and show the American people that Democrats really care about them instead of just enriching and empowering themselves and protecting their future voter bloc. Instead, in LATE BREAKING NEWS, Fox reports that President Trump ended his meeting with congressional leaders at the White House on Wednesday, after Speaker Pelosi again rejected his demand for budgeting for a border wall. The Washington Post reports that : "The meeting broke up after Democratic leaders said they would not fund President Trump's border wall, according to Trump and Democrats. 'I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier?' Trump wrote in a tweet. Speaker Nancy Pelosi 'said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!' " • Text, tweet or email your Congress member and Senators, tell them to fund the wall.
