Dear Lunatic Conservatives -- Forget Perfection, Help President Trump Build that Wall and Save the Republic
REASON VS. FOLLY. That is what we saw this weekend as President Trump's reasonable offer of compromise to the Democrat Party in the shutdown / border-security crisis on the deaf and power-blinded ears of the radical-marxist Democrat Parry leadership. • • • PRESIDENT TRUMP'S OFFER. Fox News offered the video of the President's Saturday afternoon outline of new border security proposal to end partial government shutdown. You can watch it at < http://video.foxnews.com/v/5991477635001 >. • President Trump offered Democrats a compromise package on immigration in an effort to end the nearly monthlong partial government shutdown -- although some prominent Democrats were dismissing the olive branch as a "non-starter" BEFORE President Trump even spoke. The President announced that he was prepared to support a 3-year extension of protections for 700,000 "Dreamer" immigrants who came to the US illegally as children and were shielded from deportation under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. He also offered extended protections for 300,000 recipients of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program -- which protects immigrants from designated countries with conditions that prevent nationals from returning safely. • What he asked for as compromise was the $5.7 billion he has requested for a barrier on the southern border with Mexico, $800 million in "urgent
humanitarian assistance;" $805 million for "drug detection technology to help secure our ports of entry;" 2,750 more border patrol
agents and law enforcement officials; 75 new immigration judge teams; and, a mechanism to allow Central American minors to apply for asylum in their home countries. • The President said : "Walls are not immoral," adding that a wall "will save many lives and stop drugs from pouring into our country. This is not a concrete structure from sea to sea. These are steel barriers in high-priority locations." President Trump went on to state : "Our immigration system should be a source of pride, not a source of shame as it is all over the world." He urged politicians to "take off their armor" and find solutions to the "very wide and open gateway for criminals and gang members to enter the United States....If we are successful in this effort, we will have the best chance in a long time at real, bipartisan immigration reform, and it won’t stop here, it will keep going until we do it all.” • Government sources told Fox News before the announcement that the speech would form the basis for new legislation he hopes to get before the Senate next week. The proposal is similar to a compromise put forward by Senator Lindsey Graham, who tweeted after the announcement : " A fantastic proposal Mr. President! Let's get it done!" • Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell praised Trump for his "bold solution" to re-open the government : “Compromise in divided government means that everyone can’t get everything they want every time. The President’s proposal reflects that. It strikes a fair compromise by incorporating priorities from both sides of the aisle." Senator Mitt Romney supported the President's compromise plan, pledging his support for it in a tweet : "@POTUS has put forth a reasonable, good faith proposal that will reopen the government and help secure the border. I look forward to voting for it and will work to encourage my Republican and Democratic colleagues to do the same." • THE DEMOCRAT RESPONSE. No compromise ! Pitiful but that was it.
No compromise ! • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi came out ahead of the President's televised offer to say the anticipated proposal
comprised a "compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a
good-faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives. It is unlikely that any one of these provisions alone would pass the House, and
taken together, they are a non-starter. For one thing, this proposal does not include the permanent solution for the Dreamers and TPS
recipients that our country needs and supports." • Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said it was unfortunate that in an effort to
resolve the shutdown, Trump "keeps putting forward one-sided and ineffective remedies." He urged the President to open up the government as a prelude to productive and bipartisan solutions on immigration and the southern border : "It was the President who singlehandedly took away DACA and TOS protections in the first place," Schumer's statement read, "Offering some protections back in exchange for the wall is not a compromise, but more hostage taking." • Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin also rejected the proposal ahead of the announcement : “First, President Trump and Senate Majority Leader McConnell must open the government today. Second, I cannot support the proposed offer as reported and do not believe it can pass the Senate. Third, I am ready to sit down at any time after the government is opened and work to resolve all outstanding issues.” • So, the Democrats will not even try to use President Trump's offer to start a dialogue that COULD lead to re-opening the government and securing the southern border. Instead, the Democrat congressional leadership proposes that the President surrender all his bargaining ships and re-open the government BEFORE any talks begin. Why would President Trump go to OK Corral without a gun?? We know that the same Democrat leaders have refused to offer any compromise, and insist that walls or any kind of physical border security is out of the question, while citizenship for DACA Dreamers is the only acceptable solution to the problem their Democrat President Obama created. •
President Trump’s move marks a rare outreach in a week where both sides appear to have hardened in their positions, with Trump canceling a Democratic delegation’s military flight to Afghanistan after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called on him to delay his State of the Union address earlier in the week. On Saturday before his speech, the President described Pelosi as being “controlled by the radical left.” • The President called his plan "straightforward, fair, reasonable and common sense" with "lots of compromise," BUT, in a signal that there will be no compromise either with or without a capitulation by President Trump and the Republican Party, Pelosi said that Democrats intended to pass six bills next week and other legislation to open the government : "So that we can fully negotiate on border security proposals. The President must sign these bills to re-open government immediately and stop holding the American people hostage with this senseless shutdown." • • • THE UNREASONABLE REPUBLICAN CONTINGENT. There are always the hotheads in the GOP who want just what Pelosi wants -- no compromise. The seriously damaged Representative Steve King, an Iowa Republican who recently sparked bipartisan condemnation for racist comments about white supremacy, tweeted: "NO AMNESTY 4 a wall!" And, media personality Ann Coulter, who sometimes has more mouth than brain, tweeted that "Trump proposes amnesty. We voted for Trump and got Jeb!" She referenced former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a 2016 GOP presidential hopeful who lost to Trump after he proposed more centrist immigration policy. Meanwhile, right-leaning radio host Erick Erickson said the initial reactions from
his listeners showed conservatives were "livid." • What these quasi-lunatics do not understand is that the President is doing what
any reasonable President would do -- offering a compromise that gets negotiations underway. President Reagan always said he would
compromise, take half of what he was asking for, and come back later for the other half. In fact, Ronald Reagan was a a pragmatist, as
well as a conservative. Consider this : “Never let the things you can't do, stop you from doing what you can.” __Ronald Reagan. •
President Trump said Saturday that he expected some Democrats to support the plan. However, none of the Democrat Party's Senators -- not even the handful of more centrist voices from pro-Trump states -- endorsed the proposal after the President's remarks. The likely rejection still leaves unclear a path to reopening about a quarter of the government. In December, Pelosi rejected a potential plan to fund the wall, in exchange for legal protections or a possible path to citizenship for the immigrants. AND -- pay attention Coulter and Erickson and King -- when Republicans held both chambers of Congress last year, a more comprehensive agreement to resolve both issues fell apart. Trump rejected a deal that included $25 billion in border wall funding, along with legal status and a possible path to citizenship for up to 1.8 million undocumented immigrants. Lawmakers have sought a solution to protect the immigrants for years, and made it more of a priority when Trump tried to end the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals in 2017. President Trump has learned something about how Congress works -- too bad Coulter and the lunatics have not. • • • LATINOS SEEM TO HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING, TOO. Newsmax reported last Thursday that the latest Marist Poll shows that President Trump's approval rating among Latinos shot up nearly 20% from December to January. Key results in the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll found -- 50% of Latinos support the job President Trump is doing, a significant jump from the 31% who had the
same answer in a December poll. President Trump earned the support of 28% of Hispanics in the 2016 election, far below Democrat Hillary Clinton's capture of 66%. But, President Trump's honest approach to the job and income problems of the Latino community, and his acknowledgement of their high level of patriotism for their new homeland, has earned him growing Latino support. The border security issue is evidence that the Democrats are wrong to rely on Latinos to support their open border strategy. • • • WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT IN REAL MONEY? The $5.7 billion request would be 0.13% of the $4.5 trillion in federal outlays for FY 2019 projected by the Congressional Budget Office. Some experts point out that the money President Trump requested for the wall would need to come from discretionary dollars, the money in the budget appropriated by Congress for non-mandatory programs. Discretionary spending makes up about 30% of the total federal budget. If we look solely at discretionary dollars, the request would amount to 0.42% of the projected $1.4 trillion in discretionary spending for FY 2019. • That isn't much when compared to the annual cost of illegal immigrant care and housing, drug-related crime and deaths, and American lives lost to criminal illegals. • • • TRUMP BOXED PELOSI. Speaker Pelosi thought she had won, hands down, when she called for a delay in the State of the Union address until government re-opened. The lapdog ProgDem media agreed. Neither Pelosi nor the media expected President Trump's response. BUT, when the President flexed his presidential muscle to ground Pelosi's junket to Europe and Afghanistan, the same media called the President 'childish' for denying her military aircraft to Afghanistan for the same reason. The President tweeted : “Why would Nancy Pelosi leave the Country with other Democrats on a seven day excursion when 800,000 great people are not getting paid?” • President Trump noted that Speaker Pelosi and her reported 90+ entourage could fly commercial. She was willing to try
that, but Fox News was told that Pelosi received a message from State Department officials in Kabul that cited Afghan media reporting about the President's suggestion to fly commercially, and noted her travel is “no secret” and “easy to predict.” The cable, according to sources, noted the delegation had requested authorization to purchase 17 tickets over unclassified systems and advised that their travel would not be a secret. Urging her to postpone, the cable also noted that because few airlines fly into Kabul, their arrival time would also be easy to predict. The State Department official called Pelosi's claims of a White House leak "asinine." A senior White House official told Fox News that the claim it leaked the commercial flight plans was "a flat out lie. When the Speaker of the House and about 20 others from Capitol Hill decide to book their own commercial flights to Afghanistan, the world is going to find out. The idea we would leak anything that would put the safety and security of any American at risk is a flat out lie.” • Meanwhile, the head of the White House budget office issued a memo Friday instructing all agencies that: "Under no circumstances during a government shutdown will any government owned, rented, leased, or chartered aircraft support any Congressional delegation, without the express written approval of the White House Chief of Staff." • AND, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is launching a $600,000 media campaign attacking Republican Senators up for reelection in 2020 over the government shutdown that entered its 28th day Saturday. The massive media buy by Majority Forward, a nonprofit group that isn’t required to disclose its funding, seems to confirm President Trump’s accusation that Democrats were already “looking to 2020” and using the government shutdown to score political points. The group has produced 30-second ads attacking Republican Senators who are likely to face tough challenges from Democrats, according to the Washington Post. It’s planning to spend a total of around $600,000 on the media campaign effort. The
political ads target Senators Martha McSally of Arizona, Cory Gardner of Colorado, David Perdue of Georgia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Susan Collins of Maine, and Thom Tillis of North Carolina. Trying to sway Republican and independent voters, some ads point to issues prevalent in the respective states that are or could be affected by the shutdown. In North Carolina, the ad emphasizes how the shutdown is damaging hurricane recovery efforts : “It's the longest government shutdown in history...and here in North Carolina, the shutdown's forced a slowdown for hurricane recovery. Instead of being independent, he sides with his party's leaders, who refuse to even allow a vote to reopen the government.” The ads are not likely to convince the Republican Senators to cave to congressional Democrats and vote to approve a government funding package that doesn’t include President Trump’s requested $5 billion for a wall along the US-Mexico border. • • • A NEW CARAVAN HAS ENTERED MEXICO. Western Journal Conservative Tribune reported on Friday that : "A new migrant caravan from Central America is heading for the United States, and Mexico left their border wide open for the migrants to pass through. The caravan passed over the Guatemala-Mexico border on Friday and is roughly 1,000 strong, Fox News reported. The migrants crossed the bridge from Tecun-Uman to Ciudad Hidalgo and were met with no resistance from Mexican officials. In fact, the migrants were surprised to find that the gates weren’t even locked. One Mexican official told Fox News that he and other officials avoided the caravan because they 'did not want to confront' them....In October, during the previous
caravan’s trek to the Mexican border, Mexican officials attempted to confront them but some migrants retaliated with violence to push
through the border, using rocks, sticks, glass bottles and even explosives." • On Friday, President Trump noted the new caravan on
Twitter : "Another big Caravan heading our way. Very hard to stop without a Wall!” Because of Mexico’s failure, it’s up to the United
States to stop these migrants from entering our country illegally. Mexico can leave its border open if it wants -- the US can’t afford to do
the same. • • • DEAR READERS, why is the Democrat Party leadership so adamant that there will be NO WALL?? American
Thinker on Sunday published an answer from Andrew Solomon : "I am reminded of the battle at Helm's Deep from The Lord of the Rings. There are only two other cinematic scenes that come close : the gun battle in downtown Los Angeles in Heat and the taking of the beaches in Saving Private Ryan. Helm's Deep is probably one of the greatest war scenes in all of movie-making history. Backs against the wall, Théoden's forces were faced with an existential threat of wave after wave of never-ending combatants who laid siege to the wall. The Deeping Wall protects the Deep behind the Keep, this is the only escape for the Defenders. Sauron knew that if the wall was breached, then his invading forces could take the Hornburg. Better, then, would be to keep one's main focus on the wall." Andrew Solomon says the tactical importance of walls should seem obvious : "Even Sun Tzu wrote about the exhaustion of trying to overcome walls : 'Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy's plans; the next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces; the next in order is to attack the enemy's army in the field; and the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities. They should be avoided at all cost....The rule is, not to besiege walled cities if it can possibly be avoided....Laying siege to walled cities is costly. And while natural barriers like rivers, cliffs, and mountains are good, well constructed ramparts are nearly impossible to defeat." • The Democrat Party has literally become the enemy of the United States and her citizens. The Democrats' poisonous rhetoric, says Solomon : "originates from a slow realization of their own increasing irrelevance with the American people. They have aligned themselves with the only viable strategy left : encourage illegal entry. Get as many on amnesty and social assistance as possible as fast as you can, and begin systematically mining them for power." • And, since the Census records the number of people living in each county, which is how representation is scored, how reapportionment is decided, it's not even necessarily illegal voting that is the concern. Andrew Solomon reminds us : "By even just tolerating illegal immigration into the US, House seats are affected through
redistribution. The US Census counts people here even on a temporary status, and seats will be apportioned based on their presence.
This has an effect on each state that is larger than many realize." • THAT is not the only breach in US citizenship rule of law. Once
the first wave is here, those born here afterward automatically become citizens. With the birth rates of both Central Americans and
Mexicans higher than just about every other demographic group in the US, their political power is growing exponentially compared to
current citizens. Again Solomon tells us : "And since over 60% of illegal aliens are on some form of welfare (worse, after ten years, it
becomes over 70%!), guess whom they vote for after they are institutionalized by their masters. The Democrats are like a dying patient
who constantly needs a new blood transfusion to stay alive. Like a vampire, they must continually get new recruits or face extinction.
Like Sauron, they know that the way in is through the wall." • Democrats know that if they can stall and shut down the government
long enough, they may be able to keep a wall from being built. That wall is the bell sounding their death, their extinction, as a party. •
So, Coulteresque-lunatic Republican conservatives -- support President Trump's offer of compromise. Get that wall built. Reinforce the
Border Patrol. Bring on better electronic controls. STOP THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. If the US does not do that, the radical Socialist-Marxist Democrat Party will eat our lunch. The Republic will be no more. And, make no mistake, President Trump is our last chance.

It seems everyone is looking to the Left presently, which makes all policy discussion approached as socialism based. And the more and more entering fringe candidates wanting to be part of the squabble must be more and more left in their basic beliefs to be heard.
ReplyDeleteProjecting down the road to mid-2019 when the serious players are still around what does this do to President Trump? It gives him the uniqueness of being the only “Right leaning” choice.
So for right now welcome all these extreme left leaning, drive the current conversation for democrats as far left as possible and then control the policy points when it’s important conversation.
Perfection I’m afraid isn’t on the menu friends. The closest thing to perfection is right here locked between the great Atlantic & Pacific Oceans. Carved out by our Founders a mighty expression of God’s idea of equality and self expression, yet respect for His Wishes.
ReplyDeleteWe have done this for the most part for ourselves and other nations that sought out help.
But now many nation besides us are being squeezed by a minority few heathen, self centered Socialists who are driven to their own goals. We must tighten the clamps on these renegades who threaten us.
Finally, the liberal gutter dwellers, are showing who they are and what they stand for.
ReplyDeleteThe real haters, are the liberals.
The real racists are the liberals.
The real deplorables are the liberals.
The real traitors are the liberals.
And yet, the so called highly educated and enlightened masses.
Are too stupid to see their own hypocrisy.
The Democrats really elect some of the biggest loony losers, consistently, that I’ve ever seen. Criminals, Muslim that don’t believe in our way of life and just out and out stupid anti American people. What is wrong with you Democrats? Do you really hate America because that is the only reason I can understand for your actions against President Trump’s working policies.
