Republican Presidential Debate, December 15, 2015

The GOP presidential debate is underway. Here are some key points. ~~~~~ RUBIO : "We cannot continue to outsource foreign policy....the sunnis will work with us but this administration has aligned itself with shiite Iran....Elect me and together we will usher in a new golden age of America." CRUZ : "We need to use overwhelming air power. We need to engage the Kurds....And we need to carpet bomb where ISIS is...not destroy cities....We will secure the border....I do not support legalization, I never will." TRUMP : "We need toughness against ISIS. We need strength. And we need to get it back now, before we disintegrate....We have a country or we do not have a country. We have a border. People can come in but only legally....We don't win anymore. Elect me and we will win again." CHRISTIE : "Nobody cares about Senate bills; America wants action....Most of the people on this stage voted for sequester....We need to be trusted by the regional leaders; this President is not trusted....We need to focus on Iran because Iran feeds ISIS." BUSH : "We're at war and we need a strategy to defeat ISIS...We need someone who can lead us to safety and security....We have a lack of military readiness that is frankly scary." CARSON : "It's actually merciful to finish the job rather than give death by a thousand pricks. I would do what is necessary to protect the people of the United States....If we don't defeat the caliphate there, the boots on the ground will be theirs - here....I don't do a lot of talking, I do a lot of doing." FIORINA : "The government is hopelessly behind technologically. The private sector will help, but they must be asked....I would bring back the warrior class - Petraeus, McChrystal..." KASICH : "There is a major problem. It's called encryption. We need to solve this problem." PAUL : "Is Mr. Trump a serious candidate...because what he suggests goes against the Constitution and all we believe in....Regime change leads to the radical islamic terrorism that we want to defeat....A no-fly zone is a recipe for World War III." ~~~~~ Dear readers, what did we learn? That Trump is a master at live TV and audience-pleasing sound bites, but that for some unknown reason this brilliant man so far refuses to speak in detail. That Christie has a job-tested command of conservative government in all its branches far superior to that of the other candidates and has the most straightforward delivery of his ideas about the Middle East -- ideas which are precise and practical. That Jeb Bush can take it to the bank that he will not be the nominee unless there is a hog-tied convention that simply cannot agree on anyone else. That Fiorina, Kasich and Paul have made their points and should withdraw, support one of the big name candidates and wait to be called for VP or the Cabinet. That Carson's fifteen minutes of fame is well and forever over and that the longer he tarries on the 2016 stage, the more he will lose the respect we have for him as a truly concerned Christian citizen. That Cruz cannot be out-worded by anyone but Rubio, who is expert at putting conservative Constitution-based thoughts of all Republicans into clear, presidential phrases. My choice : Rubio, Cruz, Christie, Trump, Bush. All others...go home. My sixth sense -- just maybe we are seeing the beginning of a Trump - Cruz ticket for 2016. AND -- Donald Trump said he will remain a Republican, not run on a third party ticket and do everything he can "to defeat Hillary Clinton." Mr. Trump, you have made the day of absolutely every Republican. Thank you for putting America first.
