Will the Democrat Party Survive If It Denounces the Violence of George Soros and Maxine Waters?
IT'S THE DAY AFTER THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION. What's going on? • • • JUSTICE GINSBERG IS HOSPITALIZED. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fractured 3 ribs in a fall at her office in Washington and was hospitalized Thursday. Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office. In a statement, the Court's press secretary, Kathy Arberg, said Ginsburg fell in her office Wednesday night : "She went home, but after experiencing discomfort overnight, went to George Washington University Hospital early this morning. Tests showed that she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment." Ginsburg has survived a series of health scares. She broke two ribs in a fall in 2012, has had two prior bouts with cancer and had a stent implanted to open a blocked artery in 2014. Despite the issues, Ginsburg has never missed a single day of oral arguments during her tenure, The Washington Post reported. Justice Ginsburg is the court's oldest member and there's been a great deal of speculation on when she may retire. However, she reportedly hired clerks for the term that extends into 2020, indicating she has no plans to leave soon. In Ginsburg's absence, the Court was proceeding Thursday with a courtroom ceremony welcoming new Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who joined the Supreme Court last month. President Trump and new acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker were in attendance. • We all wish Justice Ginsberg a speedy and full recovery. • • • ANTIFA MOB SHOUTS THREATS OUTSIDE TUCKER CARLSON'S HOME. Fox News reported on Thursday that : "A self-described left-wing Antifa group posted videos of a mob outside the Washington, DC, home of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Wednesday evening, chanting, 'Tucker Carlson, we will fight. We know where you sleep at night.' The same group made headlines in September after activists confronted Senator Ted Cruz and his wife inside a restaurant during Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearings. A now-deleted video of the mob was posted on social media by Smash Racism, DC. The group posted on Facebook that Carlson spreads 'fear into our homes,' and said it wanted to even the score. 'Each night you remind us that we are not safe. Tonight, we remind you that you are not safe either,' the group posted. They also chanted, 'Racist s---bag, leave town.' " • Carlson, host of "Tucker Carlson Tonight," was not home at the time. He said his wife, Susie, was home alone and heard the commotion from the kitchen. She called the police and locked herself into a pantry, he said. His brother -- who lives close by -- arrived about the same time as law enforcement. Carlson said activists rang his doorbell, broke his oak door and one protester was apparently caught on security video mentioning a pipe bomb. Carlson said he is used to being confronted in public and has no interest in playing the role of victim, but he said his wife and his four children should not have to be exposed to the aggression while at home. “Here’s the problem, I have four
children,” he said by phone. “I never thought twice about leaving them home alone, but this is the reaction because this group doesn’t
like my TV show.” Carlson said he was at the Fox News office in Washington working on his opening monologue when neighbors texted him about the commotion outside his home. His wife of 22 years did not contact him because she didn’t want to distract him before he went on air, he said. • Fox News says that DC police did not immediately respond to an email it sent early Thursday. Although the mob eventually scattered, it was unclear if there were any arrests. Carlson said the group posted online the home addresses of his brother and his former college roommate, Neil Patel, who co-founded the Daily Caller with Carlson. Twitter reportedly removed a photo of Carlson’s home address that was posted by the group. Smash Racism DC's account was suspended early Thursday. • Why is George Soros not being investigated to probe his role in finding Antifa and other street mob groups who violently intimidate conservative public figures? • • • MAXINE WATERS SET TO TAKE OVER HOUSE FINANCIAL SERVICES COMMITTEE. TheHill reported on Wednesday that : "The public feud between Rep. Maxine Waters and President Trump is poised to
reach new heights when the California Democrat is granted subpoena power as head of a powerful congressional committee overseeing the financial sector. Waters, a fierce critic of both the President and the banking industry, is in line to wield the gavel on the House Financial Services Committee, giving her the authority to launch investigations into Trump’s bank transactions. Industry representatives are bracing for heated hearings and rebukes from Waters, who has proposed breaking up big banks and major penalties for scandal-ridden Wells Fargo. They’re also aware that politics will infuse much of the committee’s agenda. 'The ball’s going to be in her court, said Richard Hunt, president and CEO of the Consumer Bankers Association. We’re not going to undermine the reputational risk in front of us.' • Waters’s dual role as the Democratic lead on financial policy and as one of Trump’s most effective foils could dovetail as she takes control of the committee in January. “The first thing we have to understand in this committee is that we have a lot of issues and a lot of concerns, and I’m not just focused on the President,” Waters said Wednesday on Bloomberg TV. “That’s just one piece of the business we have to do.” Waters said she’s prioritizing efforts to expand affordable housing, undo the Trump administration’s weakening of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, snuff out predatory financial products and bolster federal shelter support for struggling Americans. • BUT, TheHill says she is also expected" to launch probes into Trump’s personal finances to look for possible connections with Russian nationals. As chairman, she’d be legally authorized to subpoena documents from the Treasury Department and Deutsche Bank that could illuminate those ties. Deutsche Bank is one of the few financial firms that conducts business with Trump and has come under intense scrutiny from US and European regulators for money laundering. The
German bank was fined $630 million last year by the Department of Justice for allegedly laundering money coming out of Russia."
Waters would not discuss on Wednesday whether she’d issue subpoenas for Trump’s financial records and related documents. • Waters, 80, has steadily accumulated power since joining the House in 1991. She served as chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus from 1997 to 1999 and became the top Democrat on the Financial Services panel in 2012, replacing former Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts. The Hill says : "While she was already well known to Washington policy watchers, Waters last year landed on the national stage during a Financial Services Committee hearing with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The liberal firebrand tore into Mnuchin for what she considered inadequate answers to her questions, frequently halting his explanations to salvage her allotted time to grill him. The showdown went viral, with 'reclaiming my time' becoming a rallying cry among Trump’s critics, and the newly dubbed 'Auntie Maxine' emerged as a leading figure of the resistance. Trump responded with his description of Waters, calling her a 'low IQ' person...and saying that her chairmanship of the Financial Services panel would lead to economic ruin." • Waters has also regularly demanded Trump’s impeachment and called for the public to confront Cabinet officials while blasting Republicans and the administration for rolling back part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform law. • Yet, despite all that, industry lobbyists told TheHill they are "hopeful that Waters will help clear small but significant bills after decades of cutting deals across the aisle. Dan Berger, president and CEO of the National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions, told TheHill he
expects the committee to focus on issues that cut across partisan lines : “There’s going to be a strong focus on financial inclusion,
education and data security. We don’t see necessarily risks for us. We see risks for the big banks and Wall Street banks and predatory lenders.” • Big banks like Wells Fargo that is likely to get lots of Waters’ attention. Wells Fargo is struggling to rebuild its
reputation after several sales scandals resulting in more than $1 billion in federal fines since 2016. Waters said Wednesday that the
panel will continue to probe Wells Fargo and offered to meet with the bank’s chairman and CEO, Timothy Sloan. Wells Fargo said in a
statement that it “remains committed to working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, including Congresswoman Waters.” • The
stricter bank rules proposed by Waters would likely die in the GOP-controlled Senate, but analysts say she could delay further rollbacks
led by Trump-appointed regulators with hearings and document requests. • It is undoubtedly not in the cards, but could Nancy Pelosi
show that she understands the negative impact Mad Maxine has had on America by skipping over Waters to name someone else to the chairmanship of the Financial Services Committee. There are certainly many reasons to do so -- starting with Waters' calls for violent confrontation of Trump administration leaders by street mobs. • • • CALIFORNIA, LAND OF SUNSHINE, HOLLYWOOD, AND MASS SHOOTINGS. Another tragic shooting has occurred in California. Even the Washington Post has taken notice, writing Thursday that "California has had more of these public mass shootings than any other state, with 25." • Fox News reported about the shooting on Thursday under the headline "California bar shooting leaves 12 dead, including sheriff's sergeant, police say." Fox said authorities believe Ian David Long, a former Marine, opened fire on a packed California country music bar Wednesday night, killing 12 people, including a veteran sheriff's sergeant nearing retirement....Authorities believe Ian David Long eventually turned the gun on himself, but not before the 28-year-old, dressed in all black, terrorized a crowd filled with college students at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Long's body was found in an office near the entrance of the bar. Sheriff Geoff Dean, who is set to retire on Friday, said Long may have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and was known to law enforcement officials due to several unspecified 'contacts' stretching back multiple years. Long served in the Marine Corps from August 2008 to March 2013, with a deployment in Afghanistan between November 2010 and June 2011, military records show. 'We’ve had several contacts with Mr. Long over the years, minor events such as a traffic collision. He was a victim of a battery in a bar in 2015,' Dean said, adding that the bar in 2015 was a different establishment than Borderline. Dean said the last interaction between Long and authorities occurred in April, when police officers were called to Long's house in Newbury Park, about five miles from Borderline, after reports of a disturbance.
When they arrived, officers found Long 'irate and acting irrationally,' leading to a crisis intervention team being summoned. The team,
however, cleared Long and said they didn't feel he was qualified to be taken into custody. 'Obviously, he had something going on in his
head that would cause him to do something like this. Obviously, he had some sort of issue,' Dean said of Long." • As is so often the
case, it is police who confront a shooter. Fox News said : "Sheriff's Sergeant Ron Helus, a veteran of 29 years, arrived first on the scene
and immediately entered the bar with a patrolman after hearing gunfire. But as the two made their way inside, Helus was shot several
times. The patrolman pulled the sergeant from the line of fire, and Helus was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead
early Thursday. 'Ron was a hardworking, dedicated sheriff sergeant,( Dean said while holding back tears. 'He was totally committed.
He gave his all. And tonight, as I told his wife, he died a hero because he went in to save lives. To save other people.'....There were six
off-duty officers at the bar that night. 'It's just amazing. There were probably six off-duty officers in there from a couple different agencies and I've already talked to a parent who said they stood in front of their daughter,' Dean said." • At least 12 people were killed in the mass shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California. President Trump tweeted : “I have been fully briefed on the
terrible shooting in California. Law Enforcement and First Responders, together with the FBI, are on scene. 13 people, at this time,
have been reported dead. Likewise, the shooter is dead, along with the first police officer to enter the bar. Great bravery shown by
police. California Highway Patrol was on scene within 3 minutes, with first officer to enter shot numerous times. The Sheriff’s Sergeant
died in the hospital. God bless all of the victims and families of the victims. Thank you to Law Enforcement.” • Vice President Mike
Pence also tweeted: "@POTUS & I have been briefed on the attack in Thousand Oaks, CA. Our hearts are with the victims, survivors,
& their families. A heroic sheriff’s sergeant was killed. We commend the action of all first responders…Please pray for comfort &
healing for their families & all impacted. @POTUS directed the full resources of the federal government to support the investigation."
• • • DEAR READERS, traditionally, America has not been a violent country, but, now Americans are confronted with violence
every day. Does Maxine Waters really want to see people killed simply because they are her political opponents or have conservative
views. But, her calls for quasi-violent confrontation has led to Republicans and their families being terrorized, in the classic sense of
that word. Is Nancy Pelosi so tone-deaf to the pleas of Americans to stop the violence in politics that she will condone Maxine Waters'
stepping into the job of Chairperson of a major House committee because that's the way seniority works in the Democrat congressional caucus? • Are Democrats -- that is, the Democrat Party, its candidates, its political action committees, and its private not-for-profit organizations -- so tone-deaf that they cannot understand that taking money from George Soros is akin to taking money from a person who has routinely called for the downgrading of the United States as a world leader, and who has funded Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and many other groups and paid street thugs who disrupt and terrorize America's conservative lawmakers and officials. Are Democrats so underfunded by regular grassroots Americans and wealthy donors that they cannot survive without George Soros blood money. • President Trump held out a hand of cooperation to Democrats at his Wednesday press conference. Will the President's hand be cast aside because the Democrat establishment prefers Mad Maxine and George Soros street violence to a real effort to work with the 'other half' of America -- the conservative half -- to do the work they were all elected to do. The Democrat Party needs to answer that question. Now. Before even its own grassroots gives up and leaves the Party.
