President Trump Will Secure the US Southern Border, with or without Help from Congress
THE REAL NEWS TODAY IS THAT PRESIDENT TRUMP WILL PROTECT THE BORDERS. With or without help from Congress. • • • USING THE MILITARY. The media is reporting that the US military will be deployed to the US-Mexico border to prevent a caravan of thousands from entering the United States. On Tuesday, President Trump told reporters : “We are going to be guarding our border with our military. That’s a big step. We cannot have people flowing into our country illegally, disappearing, and by the way never showing up for court.” • The caravan is made up mostly of Hondurans led by the extreme-left political outreach group Pueblo sin Fronteras, or “Peoples Without Borders,” who vow “to provide shelter and safety to migrants and refugees in transit, accompany them in their journey, and together demand respect for our human rights.” The group released a list of demands on Monday for the US and Mexican governments to adhere to, which include that the US “open the borders to us because we are as much citizens as the people of the countries where we are and/or travel.” • • • TRUMP DETERMINED TO PROTECT SOUTHERN BORDER. Hours before his announcement, Trump warned in a tweet that Congress must act to legislate laws that strengthen the US border with Mexico : “The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our ‘Weak Laws’ Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!” • An indication of the President's frustration, anger and determination isseen in his tweets this week : "“Caravans are heading here. Must pass tough laws and build the WALL....As ridiculous as it sounds, the laws of our country do not easily allow us to send those crossing our Southern Border back where they came from. A whole big wasted procedure must take place. Mexico & Canada have tough immigration laws, whereas ours are an Obama joke”....Honduras, Mexico and many other countries that the US is very generous to, sends many of their people to our country through our WEAK IMMIGRATION POLICIES. Caravans are heading here. Must pass tough laws and build the WALL. Democrats allow open borders, drugs and crime!.... Mexico is making a fortune on NAFTA...They have very strong border laws - ours are pathetic. With all of the money they make from the US, hopefully they will stop people from coming through their country and into ours, at least until Congress changes our immigration laws!....Congress must immediately pass Border Legislation, use Nuclear Option if necessary, to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People. Border Patrol Agents (and ICE) are GREAT, but the weak Dem laws don’t allow them to do their job. Act now Congress, our country is being stolen!....Mexico has the absolute power not to let these large 'Caravans' of people enter their country. They must stop them at their Northern Border, which they can do because their border laws work, not allow them to pass through into our country, which has no effective border laws....Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the US. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!....Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!" • The President's tweets had between 80,000 and 125,000 reads, and between 31,000 and 78,000 comments. He has America's attention, despite all ProgDem efforts to ridicule his concern for the integrity of US territory. • • • AG JEFF SESSIONS IS HELPING TRUMP. Breitbart's Neil Munro reported on Tuesday that : "Attorney General Jeff Sessions is directing immigration judges to process more cases in less time, as part of a larger reform to end 'catch and release' and shrink the growing backlog of 600,000-plus cases in the immigration courts.' According to the Wall Street Journal, the new rules say : "...judges will be required to complete 700 cases a year and to see fewer than 15% of their decisions sent back by a higher court. Over the past five years, the average judge completed 678 cases in a year, said Justice Department spokesman Devin O’Malley. But there was a range, he said, with some judges completing as many as 1,500 cases in a year. In addition, they will be required to meet other metrics, depending on their particular workload. One standard demands that 85% of removal cases for people who are detained be completed within three days of a hearing on the merits of the case. Another metric demands that 95% of all merits hearings be completed on the initial scheduled hearing date." • The new DOJ rules are intended “to encourage efficient and effective case management while preserving immigration judge discretion and due process,” said a Friday email from James McHenry, who is the director of the office which oversees the DOJ’s judges. • The new rules are part of an effort by Sessions to reform the immigration courts, which are part of his agency. For example, Sessions is hiring more than 100 extra immigration judges in 2017 and 2018. Sessions has directed the roughly 350 immigration judges to focus their time resolving the newest cases, rather than the oldest cases in the backlog. • Sessions is also rewriting prior immigration-court precedents decisions which slow adjudication. On March 5, Sessions formally vacated a 2014 immigration-court decision, titled “Matter of E-F-H-L,” and told the 350 immigration-court judges that they could rely on submitted written evidence to avoid full hearings in some deportation cases. In January, Sessions undertook a review of a case titled “Matter of Castro-Tum” which will allow Sessions to approve or end the practice of “administrative closure,” in which judges officially forget about enforcing deportation orders and so effectively grant illegals the right to reside in the United States. Roughly 350,000 illegals have benefitted from this “administrative closure” policy, including roughly 175,000 migrants during Obama’s watch. • These DOJ reforms may eventually help solve the “catch and release” problem, much of which is caused by the agencies’ failure to process asylum claims within 20 days. Under current legal procedures, asylum seekers have to be released from detention if their cases cannot be heard in 20 days. The slow court system means that many new migrants know they will be released once they are caught, allowing them to migrate northwards in search of jobs. • Sessions’ actions also may help offset the impact -- not often mentioned -- of Congress’ support for cheap-labor immigration. This congressional support blocked President Donald Trump’s reforms in February and cut most of his funding priorities from the 2018 omnibus in March. The refusal of Congress to reform border laws, to fund the border wall, or trim legal immigration, floods the labor market. That flood of cheap labor reduces Americans’ wages and reduces corporate investment in labor-saving machinery. • As we would expect, immigration lawyers and advocates are aghast at Sessions’ pro-American reforms. Here are some tweets attacking the PResident's effort to secure US borders : "I cannot stress enough the threat that Jeff Sessions -- PERSONALLY -- poses to immigrants, asylum seekers and due process in America today." // "By certifying cases to himself he has the power to unilaterally write the rules that will shortcut protections for years to come." // "Sessions' quiet personal anti immigrant vendetta via certifying appeals to himself is going to do a lot of long term damage and only immigration attorneys are noticing because it's pretty arcane and there's so many other ongoing shenanigans." • Of course, immigration lawyers derided the new rules, even though the faster process might resolve their clients’ cases in less time and at less cost. Greg Siskind, an immigration lawyer, called it “Conveyer belt justice.” Read that -- we will lose a lot of our fees. • But, Attorney General Sessions is constitutionally right. Illegals have no right to "due process" or the full extent of legal protections guaranteed to US citizens. They are in the US illegally and subject to expulsion. • • • WHY IS TRUMP SO ANGRY AND DETERMINED? Breitbart reported on Monday that : "Since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2018, there have been more than 13,000 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) released and resettled across the United States. A new report by the Administration for Children and Families reveals that in February 2018, nearly 3,000 UACs have been resettled in the US, while more than 2,600 unaccompanied minors were resettled the month before. Likewise, since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2018, about 13,186 unaccompanied minors have been resettled across the country. California, Florida, New York, and Texas have taken the most unaccompanied minors -- about 45% this Fiscal Year." • In a statement to the media, President Trump’s administration explained how unaccompanied minors are resettled in the US after they cross the border : “US law currently requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to transfer unaccompanied aliens from Central America, age 17 and under, who are apprehended at US borders to the care and custody of ACF’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), where they may eventually be released to a sponsor in the United States. Unfortunately, many violent gangs, including MS-13, are exploiting loopholes in US laws to bring gang members into the United States or to recruit UAC once they are placed with a sponsor. Human smuggling organizations are also abusing US laws in order to bring children in the United States. That is why ORR joins the President in calling for Congress to close dangerous loopholes in US law.” • During a conference call, senior administration officials said their “hands are tied” when it comes to current US immigration law, which prevents the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency from deporting all border-crossers once they are arrested. A senior administration official said : “We do release a lot of people, basically because our hands are tied.” The Trump administration has repeatedly asked Congress for fixes, but Congress has refused to fix the problem, the official said. • While US Customs and Border Protection announced that illegal crossings along the southwest border with Mexico dropped 40% during the month of February, up to 80% of people who claim a “credible fear” of persecution are being allowed into the US to apply for asylum, the official said. Once inside the US, many border-crossers disappear to quietly work and avoid court appearances, he said. Democrats “have relentlessly opposed closing the TVPRA loophole, the Flores loophole, the asylum loophole, the inadmissibility loophole,” a second senior official said. “This is the policy decision that we can continue an unending illegal immigration in the future, presumably to create new DACA classes.” • The increased number of unaccompanied minors being resettled across the US has coincided with the rise of the violent, El Salvadorian MS-13 gang, specifically in regions in Long Island, New York. For example, before Easter, ICE officials announced that nearly 100 MS-13 gang members arrested in a recent sting were resettled across the US as unaccompanied minors, according to a Breitbart News report. Under Trump’s administration, the UAC program has continued. For example, in Fiscal Year 2018 thus far, nearly 200 unaccompanied minors have been resettled in Suffolk County, along with almost 280 in Queens County, and more than 115 in Nassau County, despite the regions’ issues with the MS-13 gang. In Florida, Miami-Dade County is also struggling with a massive illegal alien population and has had to take in nearly 400 unaccompanied minors thus far in Fiscal Year 2018. And, Palm Beach County has had more than 330 unaccompanied minors resettled in the region. • • • A BORDER PATROL AGENT TALKS TO BREITBART. On Tuesday, Breitbart repporter Bob Price talked to Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector of Texas, who continue to be overwhelmed by the numbers of illegal border crossers, they say. The sector continues to lead the nation in Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC), Family Unit Aliens (FMUA), and total apprehensions. Border Patrol Agent Chris Cabrera, told Price : “A wall for this sector is necessary and needs to happen now." Cabrera spoke to Breitbart Texas in his capacity as vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307. “Walls will take time to build but there are things we need to do now, in the interim, to improve border security in this sector. We are seeing huge numbers this year,” Agent Cabrera stated. “The numbers in February were much higher than the same month in the previous two years.” • In February, agents in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector apprehended 9,603 illegal immigrants, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from US Customs and Border Protection sources. These arrests include the apprehension of 1,387 unaccompanied minors and 3,222 partial families. During the first six months of this fiscal year (which began on October 1, 2017), CBP reports indicate that RGV Sector agents apprehended more than 52,000 illegal immigrants. Of those, agents arrested more than 7,000 UACs and at least 20,000 FMUAs. Cabrera said : “We have the buildings to handle the influx of these people, but we don’t have the manpower. The influx is causing agents to be taken off the front line to assist with processing the families and unaccompanied minors. This leads to gaps in security and not enough agents to back each other up in the field.” Cabrera outlined the consequences for Breitbart : “This leads to lawsuits against the agency for overcrowding and not being able to meet court-imposed processing deadlines. It also creates an agent safety issue when we don’t have enough agents on the line to provide backup.” • In addition, Border Patrol agents are frequently assaulted while on duty, Breitbart Texas reported. During the first six months of Fiscal Year 2018, CBP indicated that illegal aliens assaulted more than 230 agents. Cabrera said there is not enough court capacity in the RGV Sector to provide timely hearings for migrants in detention. Cabrera said : “President Trump hired a lot of new immigration judges. But, we are not seeing enough of them assigned to this sector to make a difference.” Cabrera added that the overwhelming numbers of migrants crossing the border and the lack of manpower, infrastructure support, and technology also lead to safety issues for the migrants themselves : “We are seeing a lot of deaths this year. Most of them have occurred in Brooks County, but we have also recovered drowning victims in or near the [Rio Grande].” Brooks County is located about 80 miles north of the Texas-Mexico Border. Breitbart reports that : "Nearly 20 migrants died this calendar year in the RGV Sector -- the largest number in the nation. Of those, Border Patrol agents and Brooks County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered at least 14." • Cabrera said most of the migrants arrested after crossing the border from Mexico come from Central America. CBP statistics show that Guatemala heads up the list this fiscal year with 8,814 UACs and 16,421 FMUAs. This is followed by migrants from Honduras, Mexico, and El Salvador. Cabrera said they also see large numbers of Chinese nationals apprehended along the border and at inland checkpoints. • • • MEXICO FINALLY MAY HAVE GOTTEN TRUMP'S MESSAGE -- FOR THE WRONG REASON. Breitbart's Neil Munro reported on Monday that : "Mexico’s government is reportedly shutting down the migrant 'caravan' before it reaches the US border and creates a huge public groundswell for President Donald Trump’s pro-American immigration policies. News of the pending shutdown was broadcast late April 2 by the BuzzFeed reporter following the group of 1,500 Central American migrants on their northward march through Mexico. The reporter; Adolfo Flores, tweeted : "Mexican immigration authorities said they plan on disbanding the Central American caravan by Wednesday in Oaxaca. The most vulnerable will get humanitarian visas.... Everyone else in the caravan, which has traveled through Mexico for days from Chiapas, will have to petition the Mexican government for permission to stay in the country or will have to leave." • The apparent Mexican government caravan shutdown is good news for Democrats who are trying to keep the immigration issue out of the news prior to the 2018 election. It is also good news for GOP establishment leaders, who are trying to keep their 2018 majority by touting the tax cut while also downplaying the economic impact of cheap-labor immigration. • The claimed shutdown came after President Donald Trump and his White House deputies spent the day spotlighting the issue, and also blaming Democrats for refusing the close the legal loopholes on the border. • • • DEAR READERS, Mexico is acting in order to undercut President Trump's efforts ot secure the southern US border. ProgDems are hyping the Mexican move because they want to use immigration -- in the form of touting DACA while doing zilch to actually protect those covered by DACA -- as a campaign tool in the mid-term elections. Neither Mexico nor the ProgDems are interested in slowing the influx of illegal immigrants into the US. For Mexico, illegal immigration into the US means relief from their costly and sometimes dangerous presence in Mexico. For ProgDems, the influx means the opportunity to grant illegals a drivers license as the key to illegally registering to vote for Democrats. It is all very NEATLY ORGANIZED. Preisdent Trump was right when he tweeted : "Honduras, Mexico and many other countries that the US is very generous to, send many of their people to our country through our WEAK IMMIGRATION POLICIES....Democrats allow open borders, drugs and crime!" • AND, in a routine Progressive defense ploy, JO Rodríguez, a federal delegate with INM, told Breitbart that MExico's halt of the caravan heading tot he US border was not in response to Trump speaking out against the caravan : “Mexico is acting without pressure to find a solution to this problem.” RIGHT!!! • But, the march of 1,500 illegals is only a tiny slice of the total number of legal immigrants who arrive in the United States. Each year the federal government accepts roughly 1.1 million legal immigrants, which is roughly one legal immigrant for every four Americans who turn 18. • It is time to support President Trump -- to vote-kick out of Congress every ProgDem who expresses sympathy for taking into the US any illegal immigrants -- and to elect to Congress and state and local offices only those who express their firm support for securing US borders and ridding America of illegal immigrants. President Trump is leading. It is now our turn to follow his lead.
