You're right about there being a lot of Reaganites still around. Me, for example. But, even I had handlers.
Surely there are younger pols who would serve if asked, and who could make all the difference. What about Karl Rove or Ari Fleischer, who is terrific at giving back what he receives, as you say with a smile and a factual knife twist.
I'm not even sure who's in charge of the Romney campaign. Are you? Do we see position papers, or TV appearances to bolster the "boss"?
Now, a cat - that may pose problems, especially with the "fact" part of the job. But, I see the point.
