Saturday Politics : Linkage, President Obama?? Don't Jive Us -- It Was a Ransom

Saturday Politics is sometimes about telling a half-truth...after all possible outright lies have been tried and rejected. ~~~~~~ The Associated Press reported late Thursday night that the Obama administration said Thursday that a $400 million cash payment to Iran in January was contingent on the release of a group of American prisoners. AP describes it as "the first time the US has so clearly linked the two events, which critics have painted as a hostage-ransom arrangement." State Department spokesman John Kirby repeated the administration's line that the negotiations to return the Iranian money -- from a military-equipment deal with the US-backed Shah in the 1970s -- were conducted separately from the talks to free four US citizens in Iran. But he said the US withheld the delivery of the cash as leverage until Iran permitted the Americans to leave the country : "We had concerns that Iran may renege on the prisoner release." Kirby said delays and mutual mistrust between countries that severed diplomatic relations 36 years ago made the US "of course [seek] to retain maximum leverage until after the American citizens were released. That was our top priority." The UK Telegraph published an article Friday to the effect that because both events occurred January 17, it fueled "suspicions from Republican lawmakers and accusations from GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump of a quid pro quo that undermined America's longstanding opposition to ransom payments." Kirby spoke one day after The Wall Street Journal report we covered in Thursday's blog, giving new details of the crisscrossing planes on that day. US officials wouldn't let Iran bring the cash home from a Geneva airport until a Swiss Air Force plane carrying three of the freed Americans departed from Teheran, the WSJ reported. The Telegraph reiterated that : "Earlier this month, after the revelation the US delivered the money in pallets of cash, the administration flatly denied any connection between the payment and the prisoners." At that time, Kirby tweeted : "Reports of link between prisoner release & payment to Iran are completely false." ~~~~~~ The $400 million comes from an account used by the Iranian government to buy American military equipment when the Shah was head of the Iranian government. The equipment was never delivered after the Shah's government was overthrown in 1979 and revolutionaries took American hostages at the US Embassy in Teheran. The two sides have argued over that account and numerous other financial claims ever since. But, President Obama and other officials have consistently denied any linkages to the hostage release : "We actually had diplomatic negotiations and conversations with Iran for the first time in several decades," Obama said on August 5, meaning "our ability to clear accounts on a number of different issues at the same time converged. This wasn't some nefarious deal." The agreement was the return of the $400 million, plus an additional $1.3 billion in interest, terms that Obama described as favorable compared to what might have been expected from a tribunal set up in The Hague to rule on pending deals between the two countries. US officials have said they expected an imminent ruling on the claim and settled with Teheran instead. ~~~~~~ But, some Iranian officials immediately linked the payment to the release of four Americans. The Telegraph reported that those claiming a linkage included Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, who had been held in Iranian prisons. Another of the prisoners, pastor Saeed Abedini, also had linked the two events. He said that as the prisoners waited for hours at an airport to leave Iran, a senior Iranian intelligence official informed them their departure depended on the plane with the cash. US officials had pinned the delays on difficulties in finding Rezaian's wife and mother, and ensuring they could depart Iran with him. ~~~~~~ House and Senate Republicans have bombarded the aministration for more details about the transaction. Senator Ben Sasse said Thursday : "If it quacks like a duck, it's a duck. If a cash payment is contingent on a hostage release, it's a ransom. The truth matters and the President owes the American people an explanation." Senator Mark Kirk, the Republican chairman of the Senate Banking national security subcommittee, said he believes congressional hearings are necessary to get answers to questions. The House Financial Services Committee hasn't decided whether to hold hearings. Sean Duffy, the Republican congressman who chairs the Financial Services oversight and investigations subcommittee, asked the Treasury and Justice Departments and the Federal Reserve last week to provide all records related to the $400 million payment, as well as the names of government officials who authorized the payment and those who objected to the cash transfer. Duffy wants responses by August 24. ~~~~~~ Dear readers, there is little we can say, except to conclude that Barack Obama and his White House advisors hold the American people -- and the world -- in such contempt that they think they can lie into the teeth of an obvious truth and get away with it. "Linkage" may sound good to Obama and his advisors, but "Ransom" is the operative word. Wake up, America, you are being jived. The perversions and lawlessness of the Obama administration are so great that they should all be impeached or imprisoned. Will the Washington establishment step up to its constitutional duty?? There can be no better proof that Barack Obama and/or his senior advisors insisted on 'cooked' intelligence and that CENTCOM military and its intelligence analysts were for a long period afraid to call the Obama White House out on its "high crimes and misdemeanors."

  1. A + B = C with ‘A’ being the 400 million, ‘B’ being the hostages, and ‘C’ being nothing else other than RANSOM.

One doesn’t need to have a PhD from MIT in mathematics to understand this, but maybe the political undertones are a wee bit more unclear.

What happened here was that Obama and his inner circle of friends, advisors, and executioners were so certain that their plan to send the 400 million USD to Iran would not be discovered, or would be ignored by his (Obama) friends in the media.

Surprise – it was and hit the airwaves with a loud boom. Now within the White House and State Department it was “crisis” time. What lie do we make up to cover this RANSOM PAYMENT FOR AMERICAN HOSTAGES? You see it is that evil sounding word RANSOM that causes the problem. It makes the White House and the State Department sound incompetent and unable to negotiate with a 3rd world nation like Iran.

Plus when the rumors started about this payment Obama was realizing that maybe he has been conned by Iran and this close, hush hush bond. Maybe Obama had an awakening that all Iran wanted was time to develop the bomb, what Iran considers it’s rightful ‘embargo’ money returned, and lastly and finally respectability. Two out of three isn’t bad – Obama delivered, but was discovered. Something LIEADENT (lying president) or past and present Secretary of State thought could happen. After all they are much smarter than any American citizen – or they think so.

  2. During an August 4th, 2016 press conference president Obama said …”"This wasn’t some nefarious deal; we do not pay ransom for hostages."

And President Pinocchio nose grew just another few inches.

State Department spokesman John Kirby said this past Thursday that the monies ($400 million of them) were CONTINGENT upon the release of the prisoners. A reporter at the press conference asked Kirby… “In basic English you are saying you wouldn’t give [Iran] the 400 million in cash until the prisoners were released, correct?” … Kirby answered into a microphone yes that is correct.”

If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, looks like a duck, it is then a dictionary definition of a ransom payment and a complete contradiction of what President Obama was saying (lying about) just two weeks ago.

Are we at all surprised? Not Hillary, Kerry, nor Obama knows a lie even when they tell it.

  3. OK, so it wasn't a ransom payment? So what was it then , a tip for GOOD SERVICE on the Nuclear Deal perhaps?

  4. Ralph Waldo Emerson said …” all is a riddle, and the key to a riddle is another riddle.”

Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and John Kerry must be practitioners of ‘Emersonism’ for them …all is a lie and the key to a lie is another lie, and another, another, etc.

With hindsight being always 120% correct, we failed to look closely at Obama’s past, Bill & Hillary’s past, and John Kerry’s past. They have lived their lives from one lie to another, to another. From cattle Futures, Travelgate, missing FBi & IRS files, Benghazi, to every time Obama opens his mouth or his administration reports on the simplest of things like unemployment numbers, and John Kerry’s lied military doings in Viet Nam, etc.

  5. Underhanded, sneaky, using the cover of darkness, devious, Machiavellian all describe the method the way the Obama White House used to deliver the 400 million (in foreign currency).

An unmarked plane loaded with pallets of ‘shrink wrapped’, various foreign currencies in various denominations flies to Tehran, Iran and delivers the monies someone or some organization that has yet to be identified. The assumption is that it was the government of Iran; but could have been anyone, even ISIS agents waiting on the tarmac runway.

Where did all that foreign currency come from? Did Obama authorize the sale of something like maybe gold from Fort Knox (but some believe that Obama has sold off nearly all the gold in Ft. Know previously. Department of the Treasury certainly doesn’t have pallets of foreign currencies stacked up in the hallways. Did George Soros act as an intermediary in this deal? The wife of John Kerry (widow of Sen. John Heinz of the Heinz family) has the wealth to come up with that sum and more.

Certainly the Department of Treasury had to be involved somehow, but whom else besides the State Department (John Kerry)? Was Department of Defense?

Big questions about big money for RANSOM – ILLEGAL RANSOM

So the total at the time of the signing of the Nuclear Agreement with Iran it was estimated that the U.S. owed Iran some 1.7 Billion dollars from the Embargo’s. Has the other 1.4 Billion already been paid via the same sneaky method? If so when.

Friends bank accounts of many people inside the beltway need to be examined by a yet (if ever) named Special Prosecutor.

This is all TREASON (for all involved – ALL INVOLVED) in thought, practice, and execution, all from a president that is claimed to be a “Constitutional Lawyer.”

  6. I know a thing or two about clandestine operations. One being that they occur because what the operation is all about is 99.9% outside the realm of legalities.

This ransom payment to Iran, made in cash, made in currencies other than USD, made with monies from Swiss and Netherlands banks supply various currencies, using an unmarked plane to fly the money into the airport at Tehran in the middle of the night, all authorized by the President of the United States, the hostages held at the airport for over 20 hours waiting for the monies to arrive and be verified, and cover stories abound back in Washington D.C. These are things that James Bond would have been proud to set-up and successfully accomplish. Except the Obama Administration secret plan was discovered and now we all know that “transparency” is only a word in the dictionary as as far as they are concerned; not a campaign promise they uphold.

But the persistent question is still … Where did the Obama people come up with $400 million USD to transfer via still another unmarked plane to a site in Switzerland to deposit for the foreign currencies delivered to Tehran?

Hillary Clinton’s top campaign aide and the woman who might be the future White House chief of staff to the first female US president, for a decade edited a radical Muslim publication that opposed women’s rights and blamed the US for 9/11 –one radicle Huma Abedin who has been with Hillary since her first day as First lady. Huma and her parents are no strangers to terrorist’s Islam. So if we get Hillary as president, we get Huma in the Oval Office reading very Top Secret information that she will certainly pass on to ISIS and the Brotherhood.

Huma and Hillary are to put it politely tight - one inhales and the other exhales. Huma’s husband (???) is the disgustingly, self-embarrassed, resigned under pressure ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner of New York.

Obama, Hillary, and John Kerry just keep supporting the fact that “Politics make strange bedfellows.”
